I expected someone to mention the news story about Kevin Clash the puppeteer of Elmo.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

When I went out to the internet to get the link to the story, I saw that the accuser recanted his story and now says that it was consensual between two adults.

I think no one is bringing it up because the facts are questionable, Sesame Street has dealt with it, and if he hasn't done anything illegal (which is what is at question) it's really nobody's business. To me it sounds like someone trying to capitalize on his fame and wealth.

ETA: Aaaaannd, here it is:
NEW YORK (AP) - Lawyer: Man who accused Elmo puppeteer of having sex with him when he was a teen recants.

The allegations were found to be unsubstantiated.
It's a non story.
What I want more info on is the results of the investigation of what caused that house in Indiana to explode.

The latest I've heard is that the accusers claims are unsubstantiated.
Clash admits to a relationship with the accuser, but after he was 18.
So, to me, for now this is a non issue.
No matter the outcome, it doesn't diminish Clash's creative contributions and I'm sure a judge/jury will rule on any evidence, not public speculation.
Sometimes I think people forget we HAVE a justice system in place!
Let it do its job! We're not privy to every fact and shred of opinion. Nor should we be.
In cases like this, you almost hope there IS fire with the smoke, otherwise it's a case of character assassination.

There's not enough info. Eventually, the truth will come out, or will hide behind a settlement. All we can do is hope it's not true, or the man get's punished, if it is.

The news report said the relationship was consensual as the kid was not a kid, but an adult.

I'd just like to know why the makers of Sesame Street found the need to eliminate Elmo's World from the show!! My kiddos love that show and the "Elmo the Musical" is just not the same. It's like the producers have forgotten who their audience is, they are aiming way above the heads of the kids that are actually watching the show!!

I agree with others. Does not seem like an issue to me. A private matter. Consenting adults.

I think it's ridiculous. I read an article today where the people of Sesame Street and publicists or whoever are seriously considering firing him and finding a "new Elmo" voice. They want it to be similar but just different enough that viewers know that it is a different voice so as to not associate Elmo with Clash anymore.

And I sooo agree Michelle G!! Who's idea was it to get rid of Elmo's World?? Just not the same, my son doesn't like the new Elmo's musical. I dont either, I found that EW was much more educational than the musical one they have now.

I would think people would be more upset over that change, than a private relationship of a voice guy, but that is me.

I don't know the story about this yet. Without going to find the story yet, though, it reminds me of the guy who was the voice of the Aflac duck. he made terrible jokes about the earthquake/tsunami in Japan and was fired for it. It's no big deal to get another voice "behind the duck". It's no big deal to get another puppeteer for Elmo, imo.
