My Baby Cries Constantly Unless She Is on Me

My six week old baby is an angel...when I am wearing her, and moving. If I take her out of the carrier or set her in a swing or seat she immediately starts crying and won't stop until she is held. My question is... how long do babies usually cry at night when they are first put in their crib? I am thinking most do not just drift off without a little fuss? Thanks!!

He was so exhausted from crying that he finally just slept on my chest with those heaving breaths. We still have to go back home and I'm dreading the trip. Any advice from other parents who had to deal with stranger anxiety on a plane? * No toy held his interest long enough (Jacque the Peacock worked for approx. 30 seconds) and he hates nursing covers....
