Stranger Anxiety on Plane

I recently traveled alone with my 5 month old baby and it perhaps the hardest flight of my life. He cried the entire 2+ hrs whenever he looked around and saw people he didn't recognize. He was so exhausted from crying that he finally just slept on my chest with those heaving breaths. We still have to go back home and I'm dreading the trip. Any advice from other parents who had to deal with stranger anxiety on a plane? * No toy held his interest long enough (Jacque the Peacock worked for approx. 30 seconds) and he hates nursing covers....

Your Favorite or Most Useful Baby Gift

I have several friends and relatives who are due in the next few months and am looking for some meaningful and/or really helpful baby gifts. It seems like everyone gave me clothes when my girls were born and although they were useful, they weren't very meaningful. And after all, a well-dressed baby still has problems sleeping, eating or whatever! I have hand-knitted gifts in the past but just don't have the time now. Also, any suggestions for an item that you found invaluable that you were so thankful to have?

Am I Making the Right Decision? How Do I Make This Work?

Since I had my first son 2 years ago, I have wanted to get into a position at work that allowed me NOT to pay for someone else to raise my child and to allow me more time with my family. After my second son was born in February, that thought became even more of a hope because child care turned into 1,200 a month. I had been working Monday thru Friday 6am until 3 pm as a supervisor of a very busy hospital CT scan department. I finally got the opportunity to bid on a new job, working every weekend Friday, Saturdays and Sundays from 12noon...

10 Week Old Fights Sleep!

My daughter will be 10 wks this sat. She has silent reflux disorder but is on prevacid, and now uses soy formula. She has always had a sensitive tummy, tons of gas, but luckily it is getting better every day. My question is does anyone have any experience with their baby's fighting sleep? It seams my daughter fights to fall asleep. Lately she has to be held to fall asleep, or thinks she needs a bottle to fall asleep. She is better during the day, yest she slept for 5 hrs, (unexpectedly) Although I felt I couldn't get anything done because...

HELP! 8 Month Not Sleeping Thru Night

Hello, My daughter is 8 months old and she is still not sleeping through the nights. She sometimes wakes up at least five times throughout the night. She hasn't always been like this either. We had her sleep in our room until she was 5 months old. She slept great in our room without waking up. I noticed around the third week of sleeping in her room is when she decided to wake up throughout the night. I talked with her doctor about two months ago about this. He basically said to let her cry and she will learn I will not come to...

What Are Your TOP 5 Favorite Baby Products?

Just wondering if theres any great/helpful products out there I wasn't aware of. Mine are (in no specific order) 1-Pampers Swaddlers Sensitive These are the softest diapers ever! I have tried store brands, Huggies, LOVES etc. You will pay a little more, but well worth it. Their wipes are also the best I ever tried. My daughter has sensitive skin and these are great. 2-Aveeno Baby Products A little more expensive, but well worth it. I try all of my daughters products on myself first. I tried store brand baby wash...

Seeking Advice for Crib Toys

We didn't use crib toys for our older son (now 18 months) however our youngest (12 weeks old) has a mild case of torticollis. I've read that putting crib toys that encourage him to look left will help lengthen the short muscle that's causing his head to turn to the side. I only want crib toys that safely attach to the side of the crib and preferably that don't require electricity (batteries are OK). Any suggestions on stimulating, safe crib toys that I should try out? Thanks in advance!
