Need Help with a Sleep Method or Book to Purchase for My Son

I desperately need advice from all you experienced Mom's on a good book to buy to create a sleepful night for my 5 month old son. We really have not focused on any sleep pattern until now because he is currently recovering from open heart surgery that he had on 11/26. He was born with a congential heart defect and up until his surgery we could not let him cry (can you believe that?) Now that he can cry (and is making up for lost time) I am desperate to get him to sleep better and without us with him. We did whatever it took to stop his...

Cry It Out?

Do you let your baby cry it out when it's time to sleep? We have never done it and he's 6 months old. I have heard SO much conflicting advice; some swear by it, some think it's horrible. I'm curious -- do you do it, and why or why not?

Sleeping Through the Night

Does anyone have any tips on helping my 12 week old sleep more consistently? One night she'll go 5 hours before waking, others its every 2 hours. I'm predominantly breastfeeding, with a little formula too.

How Do I Wean a Night Feeding?

Hello! I have a 9 mo old baby girl. She has always been an excellent sleeper, and slept throught the night for 5-6 hours before a feeding. The past 2-3 weeks she is waking up more. It is not gas (at least that i can tell), and i do not beleive she is teething (she already has 6 teeth). She is like a newborn, waking every 2-3 hours sometimes. I usually put her to the breast just to go back to sleep, and i know that is not a great habit. I want to be able to comfort her in another way. When she wakes up she is not crying, but more like...

Advice on "No Cry Sleep Solution" - How to Put Baby to Bed Awake

Our baby was born 10 weeks premature. His corrected age is 2.5 months. He came home from the hospital 4 weeks before his due date, so he has been home with us for about 3.5 months. Since he came home, he has slept in our bed with us and taken his naps in our arms. We have typically waited until he is fast asleep before putting him down at night. This was the only way we could get him to sleep. I know this is what Dr. Sears recommends for all babies, but it is not quite working for us. We are following Pantley's "No Cry Sleep Solution."...

Advice on White Noise Machine

As the cooler weather approaches, I'm sad that I will have to eventually give up the fan in my daughter's room that has served as a wonderful buffer to our very creaky house! I looked into the sleep machine available at Babies r us but it didn't seem to go loud enough to match my fan on level 3! Has anyone purchased a white noise machine? I googled and found the main one sold is by a company Marpac Corp. - the Soundscreen 980A. Before I purchase it, I was just looking to get some feedback/reviews from moms who might have tried this...
