The Grass Is Definely Not Greener on Other Sites!!

Hi Mamas
I have a confession to make. For the last two months I have being cheating on you all with another site lol
I joined a pregnancy site ( I won't name it) as I am nearly three months pregnant.
Now I do comment on here at times about some bitchy responses but believe me I take it all back.
This site is similar to the Brady Bunch compared to this other site.
OMG I was shocked at the rudeness and pure nastiness of some of the members.
I love straight talking women, I am no shrinking violet but some of these women ahhh!
The site is interactive ,so like here, a question is posted ,they called it a thread and you can answer as often as you want so it turns into a discussion of sorts.
I saw women taking the piss out of each other, telling each other to chill out,not to be so uptight as you might harm the baby and the worst was one saying "just because you got bad news about your pregnancy doesn't mean we can't have a laugh"
So I left the site and I have now returned and promise to be faithful to this wonderful safe haven of Mamapedia!!
So a question ?
What are your experiences in life where you thought the grass would be greener ?
All my love to all the Mamas here
B. k

Congrats on the little one!!!
My story is I was always thinking in the back of my head "if we only made THIS much more, Our lives would be alot easier OR we could start having kids and I could stay at home".
NOW we make double than THIS much, and its actually harder....cleaning a bigger house is a pain and there are more bills (the boat, camper etc) and cleaning those is no picnic too
Turns out Money doesnt make things better or easier

This made me laugh! I post threads and participate in others' threads on a fertility website because I have been through/am going through IVF, and it AMAZES me how the women on this site act. There are several threads that go with when you are doing IVF (the actual calendar days), when you are waiting for your pregnancy test, and if you get pregnant, there are due date threads. I refuse to participate on one of the "going through IVF at such-and-so time of this month" thread because of some of the things I've seen on others' posts! When a woman gets a cycle cancelled, or a negative pregnancy test, or some other horrible thing that can happen anytime during fertility treatments, the women on the thread who have been successful basically just say, "So sorry! You'll pick yourself up and do it again!" then go on and on about how they have morning sickness, how they feel, how happy they are, etc. One time a bunch of women started talking about the sizes of their houses and if they should buy a bigger one because of being pregnant... it was a virtual keeping up with the Joneses. So yeah, some women on this site can be outspoken and rude at times, but I still feel that 95% of the time, women here are helpful and understanding! :-)

In general, I think the moms are very helpful and non-judgemental on this site. Even if I don't agree with some of the advice, at least it gets me thinking. The one thing that does irk me sometimes is when the moms give advice and its pretty clear they didn't read your question or just don't care about the background info you have given. Otherwise, I love this site!

Wellcome back.

I enjoy playing games, so I joined cafemom. I looked at a few of the questions and answered a few. There were so many things that I would consider completetly inappropriate.

I really enjoy this site and all you mamas.

I had a really rough experience with CafeMom when I first became a mother. I didn't care for the micro-groups, all fixated on having only their own opinions handed back to them. I've been in child care too long to think there is only *one* right way to parent.

A few years ago, I was on a listserv for a parenting-based yahoo group which I choose not to name, out of the fact that these people do live in my community. And then one on unschooling. While the unschooling one was more for attaining information, and was 'okay', the specific-parenting type one was so sanctimonious and the moderator had some pretty specific ideas about a theory which was rather open to interpretation. I didn't like how people who didn't do what she did were "put in their place", and apparently, according to her, she was willing to share her 'knowledge' and 'educated' a lot of strangers in how wrong and offensive their rather benign comments were.Unsubscribed!

I have had great luck on the boards of a site for people dealing with loved ones who suffer from Borderline personality disorder. But I think that comes from so many of us having had so much counseling.:) And trust me, if you don't have BPD people in your life, you don't want it. Far more drama than on this site. Over there, people would trade you for the naggy mother-in-laws that I hear about here!

I have to admit, I have a weakness when it comes to trolls. Esp. the obvious ones. I don't like them, and I'm not particularly nice to them. However, I did get a little comeuppance recently, and will just steer clear of their posts. And I do get a bit uppity about those people who just seem to have amazingly ridiculous problems I would give my left arm to have. I guess this just makes me work harder at trying to be a good person and keep my mouth/keyboard shut!

We love you, B..

yeah. . .I will never go anywhere else but here. I keep telling people who say that they are leaving, that they'll be back. It's vicious out there! People really don't believe me that it's tame here compared to the cattiness, backstabbing, b**chy remarks that I have seen on some rather innocent question.
