hi, i've been trying to find a good doctor for children (and the rest of the family if possible) who won't judge too harshly on the lack of vaccines in their med hx and is focused on helping the body to heal vs. prescribing meds even if they don't know what's causing the symptom (rash). seems like a reasonable request, can't wait to hear from you.

S.,

It is always best to have a team approach for your children and when interviewing a doctor have a prepared set of questions to ask. Also seek referrals from trusted friends and other doctors who practice alternative medicine such as chiropractors and napropaths. The International Chiropractors Association has a list of pediatric chiropractors. You can google it. From Dr. Warren Bruhl Glencoe, IL

Dr. Kori Feldman is an amazing doctor for family practice. She is wonderfully personable, knowledgeable, and can work with your entire family. Her practice also integrates alternative medicine as an option. Her counterpart, Helen Davakos, is a Naturopath physician who can explain pros and cons about vaccines and plan an alternative vaccination schedule according to what's most important to you.

Basically, their clinic in LaGrange provides the following services:

* Traditional primary care for newborns through geriatrics (not including obstetrics)
* Natural primary care for those patients who are interested)\
* Integrative care combining the best of traditional and alternative modalities for interested patients
* Access to supplements, vitamins, and natural care products as well as professional guidance
* Acupuncture

Their website is:
http://www.integrativefha.com

I cannot tell you enough how personable and fantastic they are! I live in the city, and it's definitely worth the 25 minute drive LaGrange!!!

Good luck!

J.

Hi S.-

There are not many of them out there but if you go to www.hpakids.org their is a listing there. Further matthew spiewak who actually is a neighbor of mine (I just found this out) is listed on Dr. Sears website for being vaccine friendly. He is in Elmhurst. I did call them and see if he was totally comfortable if I referred who him patients who did not vax at all and they said yes. I have yet to see them but he is a very nice person.

Hope this helps. By the way I have 4 children and they never go to the doc unless they need check ups and we have had to do that only once.

Keep me posted!

Thanks

I have been seeing Dr. Minkus who is very flexible with vaccines and doesn't jump to prescribe antibiotics. He's out of the NorthShore Medical Group in Skokie and Lincolnwood. I have heard good things about Dr. Frederic Ettner in Evanston as well. Good Luck!

Homefirst (homefirst.com) is located in Rolling Meadows, Naperville and Orland Park. They are more natural leaning and fairly anti-vax. If you want a totally natural leaning, see Dr. Rosi. If you want a balanced doctor who leans nautral, but will prescribe when necessary, see Dr. Schattauer or Dr. Zumhagen.
