Can anyone recommend a wonderful a ob/gyn that is affiliated with Sherman or Good Shepherd? I am on my third pregnancy and had really bad experiences with Northwest Community Hospital. Unfortunately, that is the only hospital my current doctor is affiliated with. I would prefer a doctor who is not going to have a problem with breast feeding during pregnancy. Thanks for any help:)

What can I do next?

Dr. Zimmerman probably fits the bill -- Good Sherpherd. He was one of the drs I looked at for a VBAC.

Perhaps we had the same OB. As you know, breastfeeding is OK while pregnant as long as you're not high risk. My dr. said it increased risk of miscarriage which is not true. My experience at NCH was terrible too -- totally sabotaged my breastfeeding.

I loved delivering at good shepherd (I've heard this is a better hospital over sherman, but who knows with the new sherman opening up). My doctors were Novas and associates in Barrington - they were the only ones I could find that that had onsite ultrasounds, all doctors perform the ultrasounds, so you don't have to travel or book more appointments for those or labwork. They are awesome doctors, not everybody finds Dr. Novas warm and cuddly, Dr. Dohr and Cohl are. All women, love that too! THere office is beautiful too, if that helps.

I LOVE Dr. DiGiulio at Advocate Good Shepherd. He has offices in Barrington and Crystal Lake. I have 3 friends that also go to him and love him. He delived my son via emergency C-section last year...he's great! Good luck!

I would agree with the other post about the Doctors with their office right across from Good Shepherd, they also have and office in CL with late hours if you need. I switched to them for my second pregnancy and loved them. I saw Dr. Pines and Dr. Smith and they were excellent. I had twins with TTTS and they were excellent and referred me to a specialist right away.

N., my Ob/gyn is across the street from Good Shepherd literally. There are 4 doctors in the practice and I've had a good experience with all. The one I would recommend is Heather Herbolscheimer. She's awesome! A newer (a 4 year-old) mom herself, caring and thorough. Her number is ###-###-####. Good luck!

If it has to be at one of those hospitals, I would check out Linda Meilahn (midwife) at Fox VAlley Women's Healthcare. She handled my last child and her predecessor there I used for my first child. There are many ob's in the office too. I had Dr. Paradis also with my second cause I had to have a C section due to my baby being breech. They are pretty laid back and open when it comes to doing things the natural way. I switched after my 2nd cause I had heard great things about a midwife who practiced out of NIMC in McHenry and she has been great so far, but I don't have any real complaints about Linda.

I would also recommend Linda Meilahn. I saw her for 2 of my 3 pregnancies and she is wonderful! I had to have a c-section for all of them so Dr. Paradis delivered my first and Dr. Korzen delivered my 2nd and 3rd. But I saw Linda at all the prenatal visits.

I also changed ob/gyn with my third pregnancy. After asking many many friends I decided on Dr. Zimmerman. His office is in the medical offices at Good Shepherd. Everyone in the office was great! From the reception to the nurses, they were all wonderful. He is very kind and always made sure all my questions were answered. I especially like that he is the only Dr. in the practice so I knew exactly who was going to be at my delivery. The office also has a Nurse Practitioner and I was very happy with my experiences with her also.

I also went to Dr. Herbolsheimer, Dr. Smith and Dr. Pines and delivered at Good Shepherd and had a great experience! We had a few complications during the delivery but Dr. Pines is very experienced and I always felt confident that everything was alright. All of the doctors in the practice are very nice and make you feel comfortable with your own decisions. Dr. Akbar is relatively new to the practice but I have seen her once already for my current pregnancy and she seems great as well. Good Luck!

I would recommend my midwife who works with a great group of all women OB docs out of Sherman. Her name is Linda Meilahn and she is a certified nurse midwife (CNM). Her practice is called Fox Valley Women's Healthcare and the number is ###-###-####. I was a L/D nurse at Sherman a few years ago so I worked with her not only personally but professionally as well. She is excellent with the delivery and all office visits! I doubt she would have issues with you breastfeeding during preg. She was very supportive of me with nursing both my kids. And by the way, I am a Lactation Consultant, so you know I nursed a long time ;0)
Good luck!
