KitchenAid Stand Mixer - Do You Have One?

I really want one and my husband wants to get it for me for Christmas. My only problem is paying that much money for a kitchen thing.

If you have one, what else do you make with it besides desserts? If I can make more homemade foods and use it often, I have no problem using it. Maybe I don't do things often because I have a hand mixer that I find to be a pain? Not sure...

They also last forever, so I know it's a one time buy....do you love yours and use it a lot?

So What Happened?

I went ahead and orderd it. I got the silver one to go with the clean look of my kitchen...and I got the Artisan one. I researched and that came out with the best overall reviews. It was $150 off, so that wa a good deal :)

Thanks for the great tips!! I'm excited to get it in two weeks! LOL

I use mine at least once a week.... to make bread dough or pizza dough. I bake a lot - so I'm making cookies or cake in it all the time. I have the grinder/shredder attachment that I use to chop nuts, shred veggies and cheese.

Get a color that you love and keep it in the counter. It's really easy to clean so it's not like you dread using it.

Oh so worth it even if used just a few times a year or for desserts.
I use my for my big batch cookies (about 10 dozen). I remember as a child mixing these cookies by hand as it is such a huge recipe.
For Thanksgiving and Christmas I use it for my sweet potato casserole.
I have mine sitting on my countertop with a cover (a definite must). It takes up space that is not useful anyways and is a pain to haul out, but it makes mixing much easier.
There are all sorts of attachments you can purchase, everything from making pasta to grounding up meats.
You will not regret it, I promise.

I do love mine. I only use it occasionally, but maybe I'll use it more to make pizza dough.

Actually, I have two, both in really fun colors. I have a red on I use for soap making and a tangerine orange one I use in the kitchen. I waited for them to go on sale.

They are just so powerful and stable and easy to clean.

I have one, I love it, and I do use it for all kinds of things. You can make everything from cookies to mashed potatoes to bread dough to whipped cream. There is really no comparison to a hand mixer - once you have a KitchenAid mixer, you'll wonder how you ever lived without it.

Yay! I used to joke that the only reason I was getting married was to register for a Kitchen Aid stand mixer. My friends were actually looking forward to eventually going in on one for me when my FIL gave me my late MIL's mixer. It's 30 years old and works like new. I use it at least once a week, but I'm a pretty avid baker. During the holidays, it sits on my counter for several weeks in a row (normally it's stashed in a cabinet) and gets used all day every day. I can't imagine how my mom survived without one, but she's not much of a baker. Have fun with this!

I love to bake and someone bought one for me as a Christmas present nearly 20 years ago. I use it A LOT. In the past year it has begun to show its age a bit and I finally asked for a new one for this year's Christmas present - hope I'll find it under the tree!

I think my mom has had hers for at least 30 years. If I didn't use mine so heavily, it would probably go on forever.

I have the meat grinder attachment for mine & make my own sausage several times a year. I'm desperate for the pasta attachment, but alas, no extra cash to spend on myself. I use it for mixing casserole ingredients, bread dough & whipped cream along with anything dessert-y.

My mom gave me mine for my 30th birthday (we get big gifts every 5 years, so this coming birthday it's a Kindle!) & it makes baking so much easier it's ridiculous. I'm seriously making 12 different types of Christmas cookies this year specifically because I can do it so efficiently with my KAM!

Mine should last forever. I used it once and it's in a box on a shelf in the basement!

We only use ours a few times a year, but it is soooo worth it. There are some things that are too much work for a hand mixer or your arm to deal with!

have one. love it, but I bake a lot! I would never use the meat grinder (ugh) or the pasta maker (not worth it to me), but ours gets used at least once a week. Only limitation is trying to beat one egg in the thing...keep your hand mixer for real small jobs.

It's worth it. it will last forever and it makes my life easier....... but I admit I only use on holidays when making desserts. It is expensive, but Check Costco...... got a great price there.

I finally purchased one a few years back. The key to using it often is having it on your counter instead of on a shelf out of sight. I use mine to make meatloaf, mashed potatoes, whipped cream, lots of cookies, & desserts. The small recipe book that comes with it has all sorts of other ideas of things to make. You can also purchase a cookbook of KitchenAid recipes that is pretty extensive. KitchenAid has recently started selling additional mixing bowls, which I think is wonderful.

Love my Kitchen Aid Mixer! It is worth every penny - lasts longer than many others I've had - same one still working and its probably getting closer to 20 years. I use it often as I bake - use it for pizza dough, bread dough, mashed potatoes, beating egg whites for waffles, whipping cream, etc, etc. The stand is better than a hand mixer and allows you to accomplish more - more efficiently.

I use mine for everything I need a mixer for. Really when you consider how long they last they aren't that expensive.

The only drawback is storage but that is a small drawback.

I love mine, and use it quite often. However, I only use if for baking. I do not have any of those fancy attachments. Sometimes I think I should get some attachments, and learn something new. Hmmm
