KitchenAid Counter Mixer-What to Make?

I received this beautiful red KitchenAid Mixer for Mother's Day. I want to know what is your favorite thing to make/mix for those of you who have one of these. Some recipes would be nice too. I m excited to get this wonderful gift but don't consider myself the best chef/cook. I need to build up my confidence in this department (ha! ha!). Do you use it on a daily basis, weekly, monthly, a few times a year? Any and all help is greaty appeciated...

I love mine (I have red too!) and it looks lovely on the counter. I also enjoy cooking, to a degree, but I have to admit I use it mostly to stir up boxed cake mixes, OR, to mash potatoes. So I guess I use it about once a month :)

i use mine all the time, its one of the most dependable things i own. my fave is probably cupcakes. but great for pancakes, muffins, etc, any baking. start with some cupcakes from a mix, so easy, and go from there. you have to be more exact with baking than you do with most other cooking, see what you like to do.

I use mine weekly - cookies, cakes, frosting, whipped cream, pizza dough, etc. Any decent baking blog will have recipes that assume you have a stand mixer:

I don't use mine for making real food, but I know that you can use the top attachment thingy for making sausages, grinding meat, pureeing tomatoes and apples, for sauces, etc.

I can't wait to make Monster Cookies with mine! The recipe I have is like a combination oatmeal, peanut butter, chocolate chip, M&M, and snickerdoodle cookie. The dough is so stiff, a mixer is exactly what I need. I have made them by hand and my arm gets sore mixing the dough.

Breads, rolls, cakes, soufflés, meringues...the possibilities are endless.

Mine is cinnamon (dark red) and looks great on the counter! I never had a counter mixer until this one and also wondered if I'd use it much, but I do! I use it for pudding, cookies, pancake batter, mashed potatoes and even hamburgers or meatballs. I put the meat in there with spices & let it do the mixing for me! I also have the ice cream maker attachment for homemade ice cream. I love that I can work on getting the next ingredient or something else while it stirs for me. Enjoy!

I use mine (red one too, looks great on the counter) a few times a week. I make bread from the recipe in the book that came with the mixer. Also the pizza dough is great. Cookies, brownies, box cakes, etc. I also have the grinder attachment and use it to grind nuts - much cheaper than buying them already chopped. Enjoy your mixer! It will last forever!

OMG - I LOVE LOVE LOVE my Kitchen Aid mixer!! I use it for almost everything, except....we moved, and now there is no room on the counter to keep it out - SSSOOOOO, It is in a box in the garage rrrrrrr, and I have not used it lately, because it is a pain to get it out every time I want to use it.

I do everything from cookies, to pies, to mashed potatoes, you can mix anything in there!!

The Kitchen Aid is AWESOME! It is great for mixing jsut abotu anything! My one exception is homemade bread (yeast bread) because no matter what attachment you use the dough will "climb" up the mixer and make a mess. But for cake, cookies, quick breads, and just about everything else, the Kitchen Aid is King, or maybe Queen! Whipping egg whites is nearly impossible without one. Here are a couple of really good desserts that you really need a Kitchen Aid for, they are family favorites:

Will’s Favorite Chocolate Cake

2 Cups Flour
½ Cup Cocoa
½ tsp. Salt
½ Cup Butter
1 ¾ Cups Sugar
3 Eggs, Separated
1 tsp. Vanilla
1 tsp. Baking Soda
1 Tbs. Hot Water
1 Cup Cold Water

Whip egg whites until fluffy and stiff, set aside. Cream butter, eggs, sugar, and vanilla. In separate bowl, sift together flour, cocoa and salt. Dissolve baking soda in the hot water, add to the creamed mixture. Gradually mix in the cold water and the flour mixture. Fold egg whites into the batter, do not over mix. Pour into a greased 9x13” cake pan and bake at 350* for 30 minutes.

Chocolate Frosting

1 Cup (2 sticks) Butter
1 Pound Powdered Sugar (approximately)
2 tsp. Vanilla
1/3 Cup Cocoa
3 Tbs. Milk
Beat together well in a mixer, adjusting for consistency as needed.

Serve to Will with a glass of milk and a kiss! (OK, acctually I'd really appreciate it if you WOULD'T kiss my husband, that part is really jsut for me) ;)

French Silk Pie

1 Cup (two sticks) Butter
4 Squares Unsweetened Chocolate
1 ½ Cups Powdered Sugar
2 tsp. Vanilla
4 Eggs
2 Graham Cracker or Oreo Piecrusts
Whipped Cream

Melt chocolate and butter in saucepan; blend with powdered sugar and vanilla in a mixer. Add eggs one at a time blending well after each egg. Beat the heck out of the mixture! Pour into piecrusts and refrigerate until firm. Serve with whipped cream.

The secret to good French Silk pie is to let your Kitchen Aid run at full speed for a LONG time to get it really fluffy. You can also use the mixture ot make parfaits in wine goblets layered with whipped cream.

The most common use mine gets is making pizza dough. I make my own whole wheat crust and in the summer we make grilled pizza probably every other week. I have the recipe at home if you want it just PM me.

Other than that I make cakes, frosting, bread, cookies and other baked goods. If I'm making a bunch of mashed potatoes I use it, otherwise I just mash them by hand. We also have the pasta roller attachment and for fun sometimes we make our own pasta. I would guess I use it 2-3 times per month.

Best thing to make in the KA - mashed potatoes! :)
Put the heavy beater in, put your boiled potatoes in, add a little of the water used to boil them & let 'er rip! Once they're broken down a bit, add butter & milk to taste, salt & pepper. My grandmother always added a bit of cream cheese too (it makes them divine!) for a little extra flavor.
For things like cake mixes, etc make sure to order one of the beaters with the scraper attached - it makes a huge difference. LOVE mine!

I use my KitchenAid at least weekly, I really like to cook and bake. I used it to make bread yesterday. I also love to get real whipping cream and whip it in the mixer with some powdered sugar, real whipped cream is great with strawberries on waffles, or with desserts. I love my KitchenAid, but I don't bake much. Honestly, some of the favorites I make are milkshakes - add cheapo vanilla ice cream and any mixing (fresh fruit, broken candy bars, cake mix) and just mix it together with one of the paddles (not the dough or the whisk, the third one - I don't know it's name). They taste incredible, almost like soft serve! - and shredded beef and pork (previously cooked in the crockpot with a little chicken stock). We make lots of tacos and burritos and shredding the meat and adding a little barbecue sauce while mixing makes it soooo easy! I also make pizza dough and bread dough in it, and occasionally cookies (less cookies because I'm trying to lose weight). Enjoy it! But, keep it in a corner on your counter because if you have to lug the heavy thing out each time, you'll never use it.
