Help, Should I Be Concerned??

My husband had a vasectomy almost five years ago. I have been getting my periods every 26-27 days, very consistantly. This month, I am four days late! Should I be concerned. I am too scared to take a pregnancy test! We are all done having children, and neither of us want more children. What other reasons could cause me to be late, should I be worried??? I am totally freaking out!

P.S. Nothing has been stressing me out lately. Everything has been 100% normal. I am not old enough to be starting menopause, I am 36.

Hey M.,

Don't want to be rude, but how old are you? Any chance you could be starting peri-menopause? Are you dieting or under stress? Menstrual cycles can always change especially if you aren't on birth control. I wouldn't panic just yet, but do take a pregnancy test just to rule that out. =)

Not that I am trying to push the topic, but perimenopause can start in the 30's...a couple years before real menopause hits and your body is not producing enough estrogen and causes irregular periods and other symptoms. Just a heads up...isn't being a woman grand sometimes =)

It's fairly common to have a late or missed period about once a year. My periods would be consistant for a period of time and then change for no apparent reason.

Every time I've ever moved, I've skipped a period, whether I was using birth control or not. So it could just be nothing or you may need to take a test so you don't drive yourself nuts.

My girlfriend was once 2 weeks late due to a really bad UTI. She had no symptoms too, it was strange. Maybe?

Not to scare you but 14 years after having a vasectomy my husbands cousin was born. However your age may be a factor in starting a new phase in your life. I am 36 too (closer to 37) & have noticed changes in my female life. Good luck!!!

Have you had a major event within the last month that could have been a major source of stress? Death in the family, medical issue, super-huge issue? That can definitely screw with your hormones.

Have you gained or lost weight recently, or changed your exercise cycle in any way. That has affected my cycle in the past
