I sat in some chewed gum and want to know what I can use to get the gum out of my jeans and off of the upholstery in our car. Thanks for your help! :D

Have you tried a product called Goo Gone? It's great for gum and the sticky residue you get from stickers too. Good Luck!

J.,

Ice will take the gum out.

When it hardens good from the ice it should peel right off.

Good luck.

Hi J.,
Put ice on the gum. It usually helps make it easier to remove from surfaces. You can even put your jeans in the freezer to make it easier for you. HTH

If all else has failed I have also used WD40 on gum removal. You will have to use a degreaser or laundry pre wash to remove the residue from it. I should work on the jeans okay.

Freeze your jeans in the freezer for a couple of hours. Then scrape off the hardened gum. On car upholstery you can freeze the gum with ice cubes. Then scrape it off. That has always worked for me. It even works on silly putty and wax. Good Luck!

Hi J.,

The ice and peanut butter methods are good ones. On the off chance they don't work, an organic cleaner that I sell works at full strength to get gum out. It's called Basic H2. For more info on this product and others, here's a link to my Shaklee website: http://www.shaklee.net/sowing4health/getclean/index

As Phyllis H suggested, my oldest fell asleep with gum in her mouth and woke up to gum all over her new bedding and new PJ's nothing else worked as well as peanut butter and then dish soap, it wasn't hard either.

I always used peanut butter to remove gum. A chemical reaction (don't worry, it does not produce heat) between the peanut butter and the gum breaks down the sticky gum fibers and then you can scrape it off. The gum takes on a mushy consistency when the peanut butter is worked into it. Then you must follow with dish soap solution to remove the oily stain from the peanut butter. If not dish soap solution, a different degreaser.

Get the item wet and put the item in a bag. Put in freezer. When hard scrap gum from fabric. This or peanut butter work really well.

Hello, In the past I have tried Ice cubes to take gum off of something. All you need to do is rub the ice cubes over gum and the gum should get hard like it's freezing up. You will have to work at peeling/scraping off of your pants but should work. I've gotten gum off of things that way. Good Luck!!

Use the compressed air that you can buy at target or office supply stores, that you spray on your keyboard to clean it off. When you spray it closely to gum, it freezes it, and makes it easier to pull off. You may have to do it a couple times, depending on how much there is, but it works wonders! I used to work in the hotel industry, and that is what all the housekeepers use to get gum out...

Tried ice no. Scraping just brought up tiny fibers. Sprayed WD40 let sit for a minute and it came right off. No stain or oil left. Wiped with a warm cloth afterwards.
