Could I Seriously Be Pregnant?

This morning, I had posted a question regarding bleeding after having come off the pill 4 days ago. Now, I’m beginning to think there might be more to this. I’m just looking for some extra reassurance because all day today, I feel like my body is experiencing unusual symptoms.

To give a little background. I got back on the pill 2.5 months ago (after 5 years of being off of it). During those 5 years, I was working on conceiving (with no problems and now have a 4 year old and an almost 2 year old).

Then, just this past Tuesday, the 23rd, I decided to go off the pill because it just wasn’t working out for me. I was being very inconsistent in that I didn’t take them around the same time frame some days of the week. At least 2x a week this happens. I usually take them at night, before bed (which could be anywhere around 10-1a.m.) Some days, I would miss and take it in the morning and continue to take the other at night. And other days, I’ll take 2 at the same time. Once, I missed 2 days in a roll and took 3 at once (that only happened 1 time! And made me nauseous!). Anyway, I just wasn’t working out for me. Prior to kids, I was on the pill for almost 9 years and had no problems. But after two kids, my memory is just terrible

Well, on the same day that I stopped the pill (this past Tuesday), my husband and I had intercourse for the first time without a condom. Prior to that we still used a condom because I wanted to make sure I was on the pill long enough that it would work. Long story short, I’ve been on the pill for so long that I forgot you’re not supposed to ovulate while you’re on it. Well, let me tell you that I’m almost positive I was ovulating when we had sex (because I was lubricating something even the day before), but it didn’t dawn on me that it would be a problem, like the birth control is supposed to ignore that and help me not get pregnant. I know..you can say it, “dumb!”
I swear, I feel like I’ve lost most of my screws after I became a mom.

Well, today, I woke up bleeding and was reassured from comments in my other posts that it’s just my body having a period, regulating itself to a new timeline. I felt so relieved.

But then, later in the afternoon and even in this moment, I’ve been feeling heartburn, bloated-ness, almost like hot-flashes, just a very raised temperature. Very uncommon symptoms of what I’m used to when I’m on my period. And yes, I’m still bleeding like a period. Now, I’m thinking..is it really possible to be pregnant? And to be experiencing such symptoms only 4 days after conception? Could me being so irregular in the way I took the pill cause me to get pregnant?
I don’t know. Anybody have any clue on what the heck I’m talking about? It’s still too early to test..so I’m just anxious.
BTW, I was not trying to get pregnant.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you everyone for your response. I think most of you might be right. It could definitely be hormonal. I just don't remember having this the first time around when I first quit BC to have kids. But then again, I didn't stop mid-cycle. So bingo! That is probably the biggest factor. Nevertheless, I'm just going to take a test in about 2 weeks to be sure.

Thanks again.

I had a period and was pregnant before. He is now 14. My friend has a 3 yr old concieved using a condom. My brother-in-law was concieved when his mom was on the pill. My mom had an IUD in and still conceived my sister. Anything is possible so I wouldn't rule out other times last month you had sex. Can't hurt to take a pregnancy test....at least it would narrow done the conception date if you turn out to be pregnant a couple of weeks from now. You can also ingnore it and if you are pregnant your body could be rejecting it and you'd never really know if you were.
Ooh, the joys of bing a woman...

I think this is just the pill messing with your hormones, and your body trying to adjust to all the changes and inconsistencies. Of course you COULD be pregnant, but my guess is that you aren't. Quit thinking so much about it and take a pregnancy test in 2-3 weeks just to be sure

not sure, but these could also be symptoms to your body trying to flush the medicine out of your system, now that it's given a chance. Especially the hot flashes are familiar, when I take herbs I sometimes get that. Drink lots of water, that may help.

All of your symptoms are hormonal and can result from having just suddenly stopped taking the pill mid-cycle. However, because you were inconsistent with your pill taking, it's very possible you could be pregnant too. My sister always had 4 or 5 periods during each of her 6 pregnancies. Keep an eye on things and in 3 weeks buy several pregnancy tests and take them once a day for a week. Good luck!

It would be unusual, but not unheard of, to have pregnancy symptoms that early. However, since you didn't include the information about not being consistent in your previous post, you certainly have a higher a chance of being pregnant...and you could be further along than you think.

That begin said "bleeding like a period" means something different to everyone. My mother had something called a subchorionic hemorage during two of her pregnancies...she didn't know she was pregnant for months because she thought she was having a period. Some people have heavy implantation bleeding.

But, chances are, your body is regulating after ending the pill mid-cycle. Call the doctor and they'll likely tell you the same thing (and scold you for taking THREE pills at one time!?!?!).

I hope you feel better soon.

You could also be experiencing these symptoms b/c your hormones are readjusting to being off of the pill. If you are consistently bleeding, I would say thats your period not a pregnancy.

The period symptoms you will experience after stopping the pill mid-cycle will do that to you. I'm not saying it's impossible to be pregnant, because you weren't on the pill long and it sounds like it was inconsistent enough that you were not necessarily protected, but it could just be the terrible period you get after stopping the pill. Wait a couple of days or a week and take a test, then take another a week later. When I stopped the pill after taking it for two weeks (for the first time in years) my side effects were terrible and I had to stop (heart palpitations, dizziness) and the period I had after that was very, very heavy, with heavy cramps, bloating, etc. Good luck and take a test if you're still not sure in a couple of days.

Quick answer: sounds like you should call your OB. I always feel "better safe than sorry" about heath issues.

yikes. I know how this feels. i was in denial. I took tests at the doctors and it came up negative, a week later I start my period, three weeks later I go in to check out a lump, yup, I'm pregnant. You never know. Breathe, its good to remember to do so while you wait.
