We are in the market for a puppy. We will be looking at local shelters, but if someone out there has a dog who will be having puppies or has a puppy they can't keep...let me know!!

In addition to local shelters (see pics on line) you may want to try some of the local dog rescues. Keep in mind some of them are very particular as to whom they allow to adopt small puppies. Also are you sure about a puppy? Potty training, etc. Depending on what type of dog you are looking for, and the ages of your kids, sometimes a young dog is even better than a puppy. Let me know if you want more info or websites to check out.
You can try the humane society.
There are soooo many unwanted dogs there, and many times puppies. They are usually a small fee but includes all the puppy shots and spay or nueturing, so more unwanted dogs are not being born.
Please "save" a puppy.

I recommend using pet finder online. You can search for a pet online and they are usually rescued pets or pets in humane societies. One of my favorite animal shelters is the Helen Woodward animal shelter located in Fairbanks Ranch. Good luck! Finding the right pet for your family is a BIG decision. Please remember that although puppies are adorable, they are a lot of work... a lot like having another kid in the. Be sure you and your family are ready for the commitment.

Check craigslist in the free area for your island. You'd be suprised how many pets are listed daily on that site. I'm sure it may make it easier!

I am in Parker Arizona kind of a long drive from Orange, Ca
But if you are interested in coming up this way in about 6 to 8 weeks, my dog just had 8 puppies on the 14th. They are wire terrier (mom) and blue heeler (dad) mix. It seems like they will look mostly blue heeler. They will only get to be about 30 lbs and will make a very good dog for a family. We have 6 girls and 2 boys and 2 of the girls are already reserved.
