Ad Blocking Apps

Trying to read or write anything on Mamapedia has become nearly impossible due to the ads.

The last time this was mentioned some of you mentioned ad blockers. What ones do you use? How do they work? Is it a browser? Or does it work with my browser?

I'm sorry I don't know even the basics. I understand the need for ad revenue, but even to write this short post the page has jumped so much that with many letters I actually hit an ad!

What can I do next?

I switched to Google Chrome (as a browser, instead of Internet Explorer) and I started out using Adblock Plus - but switched to Adblock. It's free. You just download it. I no longer see the ads.

I get why they need ads, but it was making this site next to impossible for me to use. None of the problems I was encountering happen now.

It's not a browser. It just works with your browser. I don't even know it's there. There's a little hand icon that shows up at the top of my screen to show how many ads it is blocking. I would never notice it unless I looked.

Very simple to install and quick. Other than running it, I don't think I had to do anything special.

I only use my laptop (not a smart phone) when checking mamapedia. I use Chrome which has an adblocker you can download (just google how to if you don't know). I never see any ads...zero!

For my laptop I use Firefox browser with AdBlock, NoScript, and FlashBlock add ons - and the site is SO beautifully functional for me I just love it!
For my Ipad - AdBlock has their own browser - and it really helps keep things manageable.

Same as those below:
I use Google Chrome as my browser on my computer and downloaded the free AdBlock app.

I liked it so much I them downloaded the AdBlock browser for my iPhone. It's not free but it's worth it.
