Exzema/dry Skin on My 22 Month Old

my daughter has dry skin all over. Drier patches on her elbows and the back of her arms, her thighs and calves. She scratches her tummy and her upper and lower back often. I have tried lots of creams and stuff and nothing seems to work well. We use cortizone for the itching but her skin is still ALWAYS dry. Is there a different cream that you have used succesfully. I have also thought about putting her on an Omega 3 childrens supplement.

Aquaphor & Mylanta for Diaper Rash????

I read in either Parents or Babytalk that you can use a mixture of Eucerin Aquaphor and Mylanta on diaper rash and that it works great. Has anyone ever tried this? I'm about at my wits end with a never ending diaper rash on my daughter. It will go away for a day or two and then comes right back.

Allergy Testing for 13 Month Old

My 13 month old has severe excema on his head and face. At our last doctor visit (last week) my doctor suggested that we get him tested for allergies to see if that would help his excema. His excema is really bad and he constantly itches it and cuts himeself on his scalp. We are using a steroid right now and I would hate to continue to use it so that he is comfortable. So I am asking if anyone has had their toddler allergy tested and what does it entail? Was it painful? I am thinking it is a good idea because if it is an allergen we...

What Products to Use for an Infant Who Has a Rash

Hi I was wondering what products many of you recommend for an infant (2 month old) who has a very bad sandpaper like rash all over her body. Her back is actually peeling today since her skin has been so dry. I did take her to her Pediatrician who ruled out any illness. He stated it may be sensitive skin or she may be having a reaction to a food that I am eating as she also has very bad reflux along with it. I use dreft detergent on all clothes/linens that come into contact with her. I use Eucerin on her skin which does seem to help a...

Help W/ Eczema on 6 Month

My 6 month old has had a rash in the creases of her arms and behind her knees for nearly 5 months now. The doctor said it's eczema and to just put lotion on it, but its really bothering her now. She tries to itch it with her hand and feet any chance she gets, and now shes starting to cry when she does itch it. Its bright red and super dry. Is she too young to use cortizone cream on it? Does any one have a simple remedy? Help, were desperate!

Aquaphor, Eczema and Bum Genius Diapers

My son has severe eczema on his entire body and sometimes we are applying Aquaphor 3 times (or more) a day. I was told by Bum Genius reps that this cream would affect the absorbency of my Bum Genius diapers. I have been using Pampers but really want to cloth diaper. My son does not have a reaction to the diapers. It is more the issue of the diapers having a reaction to the creams I am using on his skin. Any suggestions? 1. 14 Month Old with Excema and Psoriasis

Hi, my almost 14 month old son has been having major skin issues since about April when I slowly started to wean him. It started out as excema behind the knees which was treated and gone, then some impetigo on his upper arms that turned into weeping sores, then cleared up with a very heavy duty corticosteriod. Then a few weeks later he came down with some sort of virus and shortly after that had these horrible bumps all over his body...I had never seen anything like it. I took him to a dermatologist and they had to take a biopsy out of...

Help - My 13 Month Old Has a Bad Diaper Rash!

My 13 month old daughter developed a sudden diaper rash with two very raw areas that look like popped blisters (approx 2 cm in diameter)right where her bottom cheeks meet. Otherwise the bottom is red rashy looking. She has only had a little rash once before in her life, which healed completely within a few days. This is the fourth day of this and I'm starting to wonder if it is more complicated than just diaper rash. Any thoughts or advise on how to care for this. She doesn't act like it is hurting her much, but it really looks...

21 Month Son Has Dry Patches/small Bumps on Skin

My son was born with tiny bumps on the back of his arms (like mommy). Now, his back is so dry and after bath, the skin on his back turns very red. I use johnson & johnson head to toe soap-free wash and use A LOT of lotion to sooth his dry patches on back. The doctor told me it was excema on his arms so we reguarly use cream for that too. He does not scratch or act bothered but the redness after a bath and the dryness concerns me. Any ideas?

Natural Remedies for Red, Itchy Rash

My 21 month old boy has this large red rash on his bum/lower back. It started out small and didn't bother him and it was getting better but just this morning I got him out of bed and it is much worse and he is itching it now. The red areas are slightly raised and some areas are peeling. We are letting him run around with out his diaper as much as possible and we use Seventh Generation diapers so I know it isn't a sensitivity to his diaper. So, far we have just been using Earth's Best diaper rash onitment. I am wondering if any one has...

18 Month Old Tantrums

My daughter gets so upset at times and screams so hard she can hardly breath and throws her self around. I just walk away and let her have her tantrum. At times though she will throw a tantrum when I change her diaper or am trying to get her dressed. She makes it impossible to get her diaper on. She thrashes around and pulls it off as i try to put it on. Same with putting her clothes on. I keep thinking she will grow out of it but she seems to be getting worse. My son never had tantrums like this.

He is having terrible rashes since he is sitting in his poop! (And I am trying my best to check him often, but sometimes he will poop when I do n't expect him to, or after he has been checked! I am at a loss as to how best to handle this! We talk about how he needs to tell me when he poops so he doesn't get a rash, but he still won't tell me. The other day I let...

Need Advice on a Skin Rash

My son is 14 months old & last night in the hour between dinner & bath I noticed that he had a really distinct raised, warm red rash around his mouth where his binki had been. I assumed that maybe I hadn't rinsed it off well at the last washing & he was just reacting to soap on the binki so I cleaned him well in the tub & applied a lot of aquaphor. Went to bed & when he woke up this morning the rash was much worse (even though he spits the binki out after he is asleep) & his eyes were very swollen & red, warm ringed as well as his mouth. ...

Causes of Diaper Rash

Hi! My son recently turned one and has started having problems with developing diaper rash. Up until now, we haven't had too much of a problem with this but recently it has become an ongoing issue. I always change his diaper as soon as I know that it is soiled so I don't think this is the issue. I have talked to his peditrician about what could be causing the flare ups and was told that it could be a reaction to something that he is eating. He informed me the only way to find out which food was causing the reaction was to start all...

My Baby Scratches Her Head

My 7 month old scratches her head and gently hits her head with an open hand while she's eating and/or playing. I've heard of self-stimulation but I don't know if this falls into that category. I try to distract her by moving her hand away or making a silly noise to grab her attention. Did I neglect to fulfill a need? Is there a way to break this habit; she always has scratches on her head :(
