Reaction to Albuterol

Hello, Mamas! I need some feedback. Our 3 year old son has asthma issues only when he has a respiratory illness. During those time, we have successfully given him his albuterol inhaler as a daily treatment for the wheezing and coughing until the illness subsides and he no longer needs it. That lasts maybe a week at the most. It's been over 10 months since the last time he had to use the inhaler, and we had to use it last night. However, within about 5 minutes, he started itching on his legs like crazy and the left side of face got...

If My Son Was Allergic to Our New Kittens What Types of Allergies Would He Have?

My son has a mild allergy to pollen and he takes Zyrtec daily for it. He is constantly around dogs when he is at my mother's house, which is at least twice a week. So we decided to get a couple of kittens. I have them on a trial run and I can return the kittens if my son is allergic. So, what types of allergic reaction would my son have to them? I understand red eyes and itchy nose but what about coughing or congestion?? Just thought I would throw the question out there to see if anyone has experienced it. Thanks

Seeking Allergy Shot Information

My almost 5 year old son was just tested again for allergies. We just found out he's allergic to trees, mold, and grass. He also has some food allergies. The allergist said he'd be a good candidate for allergy shots. She said when shots are done at an early age, a lot of kids' allergies are gone for good. I realize this is a long commitment, between 4 and 5 years. Has anybody had any luck with allergy shots? Any advise would be appreciated.

A Question for Dairy Allergy Moms

I am beginning to suspect our four-year-old daughter may have a dairy allergy. As a baby, she had a rashy issue from the time she was born until she was almost a year old. She had reflux issues. She was always sick and had ear infection after ear infection until we got tubes. She has struggled with coughs and colds. To this day, if someone is sick with a cough, cold or bug and comes near her, she gets it! (Our other two seem to have much stronger immune systems and just don't react this way!) She was finally diagnosed with...

Peanut Allergy and Asthma Question

Hi, My son is 15 months old and was recently tested for allergies. He reacted to peanut and the Dr. gave us an epi pen and told us to never let him eat peanuts. Now in the past my mother in law gave him a peanut butter cookie not realizing you aren't supposed to give a toddler peanut butter and he had no reaction. My husband had given him PB ice cream without thinking as well. I would have thought something would have happened then but nothing did. Has anyone had this experience? The second part of my question is that he was diagnosed...

Allergies/ Asthma and Allergy Shots

My daughter who is eight years old and unfortunately taken after me with allergies. This particular Summer she has had a heck of a time. She has coughed all summer literally. She coughs up so much flim that she vomits. She has been on various antibiotics, and she is now on prednisone which is the third time this year. Her pediatrician ordered a chest xray which was negative. So my thoughts were okay why is she coughing so much. Is it the drainage, something she is around. The pediatrician and allergist both recommended allergy shots...

Albuterol/nebulizer Use for a 5 Month Old

My 19 week old daughter was just recently diagnosed with reactive airway disorder. My 5 yr old also has the same issue. Both are currently on breathing treatments..MY QUESTION: is anyone else using albuterol in a nebulizer (.083% or 2.5mg/3mL albuterol sulfate) on their infant? My doctor told me to give her albuterol (1 full ampule) 3xday and pulmicort (1/2 ampule) 2xday. I don't know how comfortable I am using albuterol on the infant when it can cause increased heart rate, nervousness, etc..and its hard to look for these signs in a 5 month...
