Leapster Vs. Nintendo DS for 5 Yo

My daughter turns 5 in a few weeks and told me she wants a Nintendo DS for her birthday. She's seen some other kids playing with them at her day care and has played with those belonging to friends the same age so now she wants one of her own. I was thinking before of doing a Leapster LeapPad because that's what another friend of mine got for her boys and another friend's son has a Leapster Explorer and she likes it better because she feels it's more educational content, while the DS is just games. What Do After School to Help Keep Kids Busy????

I am on here alot and get lots of helpful info but dont normally ask, lol. My problem is I used to work full time and I have a 6 year girl; 4 year old girl and a 11 year old boy. I do work part time when they are in school and really need to work more at home but are not able most of the time. We get home off bus around 2:45 and I normally make dinner around 6:30 and we do have a couple after school things going on like one day is dance and then girlscouts and boyscouts.
