Hello, me again. I am looking for a good tasting sparkling water. I love Clearly Canadian and it only has 6g sugar and carbs but it is out of stock on all the online places that I am looking. I gave up soda (have gestationa diabetes) and am craving something carbinated that is yummy but not a lot of sugar. Thanks ladies, you guys are my rock!

What can I do next?

I used to love Clearly Canadian until they stopped selling it where i live. But Arrowhead sparkling water is my fave!! It comes in lemon, lime, orange, rasberry-lime and even pomegranite. I love Perrier also, they made a new grapefruit flavor and it is so good! But Arrowhead is usually on sale at Ralphs and much cheaper. No sugar, carbs or anything.

you should look for flavored stevia, in liquid dropper form at your local health food store, whole foods or trader joes. You can probably order it online too. Its natural, not harmful and super sweet, so use it sparingly. I love the unflavored kind, but it comes in root beer, grape, vanilla,chocolate..... you name it, add it to any unflavored sparkling water, like perriere or croix.

My family has a history of diabetes and ive done my research, its not gonna be me!

That's one of the things, to me, that the store brand always tastes best.

Don't waste your $ on the expensive brands, buy the kind you can get 3 liters for $1.

Hi K.---We mix sparkling water with the Naked Mango puree. The mango works best, in our opinion. But you can mix it with all kinds of juices, we just think the puree gives a stronger flavor. We don't get other juice products that contain added nutrients (vitamins/minerals). Not good, as too many (so many products are fortified) can throw the body out of balance and then become pro-oxidants. I guess that's another topic. My apologies.

Please do not use artificiall sweeteners as those are reported to be 'exitotoxins' and have a huge impact on the neurological system. A better zero calorie sweetener is stevia, which is made from a plant native to south America, if you really need to sweeten something.

If I may add one more thought. Be sure to eat lots of fiber. Fiber slows the rate at which sugar is absorbed into the blood stream. Additionally, high fiber foods mean fewer calories, and fewer calories mean stabilized weight gain during pregnancy....and life! Eat lots of fruits and veggies. It will help to stabilize the gestational diabetes. I have learned this info from a Naturopath who has her PhD in Nutrition. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. Good luck and be well. D.

Orange flavored Pelligrino! I have only seen it in cans and at Safeway...
Oh my goodness is it yummy...and if/when your not pregnant, if you mix it with the new Whpped Cream flavored vodka you have a Orange Creamsicle!!

There is also something called LaCrouix...it comes in berry flavored and it is good!

I just do straight sparkling water. I buy the private label at the grocery store, it is very refreshing, and they do have the flavored ones too. I also like the carbonation and don't always need the sweet, so the water works well for me.

I use plain (unflavored) sparkling water and add a splash of juice or a teaspoon of lemonade mix to it. It's lightly sweet - not like soda - but refreshing nonetheless.

All you need to do is buy Club Soda.... and use that to fizz whatever drink you want... for me, I use it to fizz homemade Lemonade...
You can add Club Soda to anything... any juices etc. like apple juice etc.
AND it is just like "soda."
You can dilute your juice.... with water as well. 50% water, 50% juice.. .to cut the sweetness/sugar of it.

Safeway also has sparkling waters that are fruit flavored and has NO sugar in it... but then it has aspartame or something in it.

Also to 'sweeten' things... you can use Splenda. Which, is what we used... my Dad was Diabetic.

Or, ask your Doctor/Nutritionist... because for Diabetics, they do know what alternative you can use... and the glycemic indexes of juices etc.

all the best,
Susan

I like Perrier mineral water. Comes in a green glass bottle. You can get it flavored with lemon or lime. I also like to add a fresh lemon/lime wedge too.

I don't drink it myself, as I don't drink flavored water, but I buy it for my husband & step-son & they love it - try the SoBe Lifewaters. They have 0 cal, 0 sug & 6 carbs. Again, I don't drink it, so I'm not sure if its sparkling or not, but both of them hate drinking water, but they love all the flavors it comes in. I usually get it at Fry's 10/$10 for 20 oz bottles.

I hope you find something that you like.

Hi K. - Arrowhead is making sparkling water now. I like the lime flavor. Also no sugar and no sodium. It also tastes good mixed with some cranberry juice cocktail to give it a little fizz.

I also found lime flavored sparkling mineral water at Whole Foods that was expensive but tasted really good. It was just about $5 for 6 half litre bottles.

I like to by Seltzer Water and add some of the single serving crystal light type things to it. Or you can always buy a 100% pure juice at a health store like Sprouts and add a little of that to it. We got an unsweetened cranberry one that works well. I would stay away from Club Soda and some of the like because they have sodium in them. That's why I like the seltzer water. Nothing but water and carbonation.
