Yet Another Stroller Question......

We walked around NYC for an entire week (and I really mean walked everywhere) in our $60 Chicco umbrella stroller. It held up really well, our son was comfortable, and it was easy to carry-up and down stairs as needed.

We saw a lot of people with Maclaren's and PegPerego's. They looked almost identical, and I'm guessing ours cost 1/3 the price.

We've had our Chicco for almost 4 years, and it's held up amazingly well on several flights, constant trips to the mall, etc.

I use the City Mini by Baby Jogger in Manhattan and have traveled around the world with it and I love it. It is a bit heavier than a traditional umbrella stroller, but very sturdy and has a good sized basket underneath. Also the sun shade is really big, which is a great feature in the warm weather. My son really likes it (well, as much as a 2 year old likes a stroller anyway). I would suggest a shoulder strap for carrying it up the stairs.

I LOVE my stroller. It isn't super light weight but the ride for my daughter is great.

Mia Moda Cielo...a bit odd looking but it is a REALLY nice stroller. Very well built. The wheels are solid rubber so they will take a beating and still be in great shape.

My daughter LOVES this stroller because she can see everything. I get NO complaints and very rarely does she put up a fuss to walk instead of ride. It is more like a "push chair" and it is great for older kids!!!

I would NOT reccommend a Maclaren. I know that people love them...and I loved mine too...but they are NOT that sturdy and I don't think that the plastic wheels would do well in the city!!!

We have a MaClaren Triumph and it is great. It is very sturdy and we have used it on a farm where we go to get pumpkins for halloween. It does great in uneven/bumpy terrain. It's comfortable for the kids, #2 is now using it and it's comfortable for me to push and maneuver it.

I say if you like your stroller, get the new wheels and keep using it. In NYC you need a sturdy stroller so a lightweight won't come cheap. Even the cheapest Maclaren is over $100......

Ditto on skipping the McClaren for your situation. It isn't that sturdy and the wheels probably wouldn't hold up.
