We had been using a photo outfit that came to our apartment with backdrops and props and they did a great job (but were forever late and took forever). This year we are going to a studio where we have to bring our own props.
No time to shop as we set it up for tomorrow evening. Any suggestions on what I might have around the house (ornaments, tinsel, lights, paper hats etc) that I could bring to make for some memorable photos?

hit up a dollar store. they have hats stockings, cheap ornaments, light strands, as well as other decorations that will make for cute props. they have wrapping paper too so you could use that as a backdrop. one year i found a 1.5 ft tall christmas tree.. the possibilities depend on your local store. but i am sure you will find something to use.
Last year my daughter loosely wrapped white christmas lights around the girls. Looked cute. Maybe a white board or chalk board sign that wishes everyone a happy holiday season from your family? Festive christmas jammies for the kids?
We take photos every few years and always do it outside. We've used National Forests, botanical gardens, old warehouse buildings and wheat fields as backdrops. All beautiful. That might be a consideration for you.
Depends on the look you are going for? I would say a favorite neutral colored teddy bear, or favorite blanket, vintage-type wooden toy train, blocks, pull toy if he is walking, etc. Just keep it simple, classic and neutral as possible to not take away from baby.
KISS. props are fun, but you want your adorable tidbit to be the focus. a favorite blankie or teddy, and a little tinsel should be all that's needed.

Wrap a few presents or empty boxes in Birthday and or Christmas paper. Stop at the dollar store and buy a few birthday balloons. Bring a Santa hat, tree ornaments, a red scarf and or candy canes.
Personally, I stopped going to a studio years ago. I love natural light photos and take pics outside my house in front of a tree with clear lights and red Christmas balls. I also have a stone front house that makes a nice backdrop too.
When my kids were little I used to take them to a local country club that had beautiful outside decorations for photos.
I would go to scrapbooking sites and look at layout pages. Christmas albums, that should spark your imagination.
