Which Hospital

I delivered (no c section) at Alexian brothers in October. It was fine. The labor and recovery rooms were comfortable.

The nursing staff were attentive. We have the best labor nurse. The recovery nurses were okay... but by then it just seems that they would want to monitor stats every time I just fell asleep.

The delivery was good. They (my doc & nurse) were very good about making sure I was comfortable and informed of the situation (i.e. updates on waiting time for the epidural, etc.) They also accomodated that we wanted 3 additional people during the delivery (hubby, and both grandmas).

Alexian was also very good about following up. The nurses called about 4-5 days afterwards which was nice.

We lived in between CDH and Alexian and chose Alexian because our doctor was there (they were located in the next building). In addition they also have a good neonatal ICU, just in case.

which hospital does your doctor go to? you are usually constrained by that.

I labored at Alexian with my first, after deciding that CDH wasn't natural labor friendly enough for me.

If I was to have a c-section, I'd have it at CDh
--it's a much nicer hospital. Go on a tour and see for yourself.

I loved my experience with an emergency C-section at CDH. My labor nurse came up to meet the baby the next day when she was really sad her shift was over and I hadn't had the baby yet in 14 hours! They were kind, compassionate, and I learned alot from the nurses with my first child. They have a brand new wing for labor and delivery, and it's modern and super clean. Why don't you go take a tour of it before you decide on which hospital? That might help. Good luck! I plan on delivery there when I have my next child in the future.
