Does anyone know where I can buy some butcher paper? I don't really want a whole role, but I would like several yards to hang up. I want it for a kid's craft project. Any ideas would be welcome.

Rosalyn,
I am a former teacher and the best places to buy butcher paper are at a teacher store like Teacher's Tools ###-###-####) or you can try Mardel ###-###-####) which is a Christian/teacher store. I'm pretty sure that they both would have what you are looking for or be able to point you in the right direction.
Good luck!

Go to the dallas morning news paper, and ask for end rolls. I used to get huge rolls for moving. I would get them free and they would be put out in boxes by the ports in Utah. I went here to dallas morning news and was told they recycle them. (darn) but that you could buy them for a nominal fee. Cheaper than mardels!

Try Lowe's or Home Depot near the paint department. That's the last place I saw huge rolls of butcher paper (in brown).

You can also try a teacher supply store but I think it will cost a little more.

Good luck... and great idea!

Hi Rosalyn

You can buy Freezer Paper at most grocery stores (that's the same kind of paper that the butcher's use - it is has some kind of water-resistant finish on one side and feels like regular heavy paper on the other. It is about 2 feet wide and should cost less than $4.

You can also buy white wrapping paper at Container Store that is the same but without the water-resisant finish on the back. It is located near the shipping tapes/boxes/lables, not in the pretty wrapping paper section.

You can also buy an 18" x many-yards-long roll at IKEA for about $7.

I hope one of these options works out for you. Have fun! N.

Did you try OrientalTrading.com? I used it for supplies when I taught and they had everything.
