Where Can I Donate Used Toys? - Parker,CO

My kids and I cleaned out their closets today and we have a ton of toys and stuffed animals to donate. I want them to go to needy families and be used, not sold. Does anyone have any ideas or know of an organization that takes used toys? I'm finding that a lot want new toys. I would hate for everything to go to waste. They are in great shape. There is a Christmas program in Colorado Springs, but I was hoping for something a little closer. Thanks!

What can I do next?

I donate everything to the ARC and CP of CO - the items are sold at the ARC thrift stores to benefit adults and children with disabilities. Their number to arrange to pick up your donation is 303- ###-###-#### in the Denver area or outside the metro area: 1-800-283-2721. You may also visit www.arcthrift.com .

I have been donating my kids old toys as well as clothes to women's shelters. They are happy to get anything and your donation is tax deductible - a win-win for all. You can look in the phone books and call around to the shelters to see where you can drop off your stuff (they don't take it personally since they want to keep the safe houses safe)or you can use the place I've used which is Aurora Interchurch Task Force @ 1553 Clinton St. ###-###-####.

There is a mission that gives out toys and clothes and does NOT sell them. It is called His Hands and it is located in Englewood at the corner of Acoma and Corona. You can contact Johnny Davis the director for times and information. This is a number that they can help you get you in touch with him. ###-###-#### (littleton church of christ). We give things there all the time and they don't sell anything.

There is a thrift store in Kiowa that takes used toys called ECCO Community Resource Center. It is run through Elbert County Social Services. They do resell donated items but the proceeds go towards helping those in need with heat, gas, housing etc. on an emergency basis. They are having a Santa's workshop December 5 for needy children to come do their Christmas shopping. Their address is 336 Comanche Street (HWY 86), Kiowa, CO 80117, phone ####-###-####. The are only open on weekdays. Hope this helps you out. J.
