Hi S.,
I would start the pill now. Because if you had your first period you are fertile again. I have met woman who got pregnant by the first check-up which is 6 weeks after birth. Of course if you and your husband aren't intimate yet you don't need to take anything. So good luck and you can always call the doctor.

After the birth of my first son, I was breastfeeding full time and given the minipill, you are supossed to start taking it immediatly. After 4 months, when he was no longer full time breastfed, and I had a regular period, my doctor started me on regular birth control pills, which I started on the first day of my next period, in the meantime, my husband and I used an alternative method of birth control.

Start tomorrow, on Sunday. You're supposed to start taking it before you have sex. If you're breastfeeding and taking the minipill, make sure you take it the exact same time every day. Very important for the most effectiveness.

Hi S.,

If it were me, I would wait until my regular period came back on a regular schedule. In reality, I would not take Birth Control pills because it changes the physiology of the body and adds extra weight gain. Do you have an alternative to birth control pills? Hope this helps. D.
