What to Do with MaryKay Stuff?

Hi Moms,

I made a go with MaryKay in the beginning of the year but it wasn't the right fit for me. I have quite a bit of supplies from my start-up kit and some misc. products, etc. I don't want to return them for my money back because they have to destroy the products for safety reasons. Any ideas on how I might be able to move these supplies? I did post them on Craigslist, and may do that again, but I'd love some other ideas. Thanks!

What can I do next?

Contact the other reps and offer them a discount for the whole set.
I ended up giving mine to the shelter because those women leave with nothing and they appreciated and used EVERYTHING, even the odd colors.

if you know of another person that sells mary kay that could use them try giving or selling them to that person. I sold marykay also and me an one of my good friends would use each others stuff like if i needed more mirrors
i would let her know. etc.
That might be a good thing to do.

If you can't sell them you could take them to your local womens shelter.

Hi P.----I think I was living in Chicago at the time my sister got out of the Mary Kay business. She gave me and our other sisters lots of her stock. I ended up donating much of it to an organization that was collecting for needy high school girls and their homecoming and/or prom. Not sure how you would go about something like that, but it felt really good knowing someone was getting some good out of it. You would be able to deduct the value of the product as a non-cash contribution on your taxes. Do verify with your tax professional however. Don't know if the group has to be a registered charity or not.

Good luck. D.

Wow, I am so sorry to hear that it didn't work out for you! I sell Mary Kay part time too, and I don't know how involved you are with your meetings, etc. but if you are serious about quitting, go to your Director and other girls in your unit and ask them if they can use your stock! As long as it isn't too old and is unopened, I am sure someone who is already a consultant in your area will need to build up their own store. I would go through your unit first before you try anything as random as a garage sale or Craigslist.

I think if it was really about the money you would have simply returned them. The donating to women shelter ideas below from the other moms is a terrific idea. And if you want a bit of a financial return, you may be able to claim this on your taxes as a charitable donation.

I love the donation idea - just make sure they are un-opened, and un-used product.

You could also try Ebay if you want to make a little money.

I agree with the women's shelter. You can write it off on your taxes, too, so keep track of everything you donate.

You could sell them on Ebay if you don't get anyone to buy them on Craigslist.
