What's Your Favorited Home Schooling Curriculum?

We love Math U See. Even me; doing the lessons with my son I am continually astounded by how the author explains things. I understand math, but his explanations make so much more sense than I ever imagined math could. Simple, clear, no fluff. LOVE it!

I'm enjoying Saxon Math for two kids who are struggling with math. I think my rapid math learner would be frustrated at the slow pace and repetetive nature of Saxon, so I'm using a selection of different workbooks for her.

I enjoyed the cards of the Rocket Phonics reading system. It was really helpful for me to be able to define the phonemes of the English language and give me a way to describe the actual sounds (as opposed to the letters) of reading. I haven't used the curriculum much, though.

My friend loves Sonlight Curriculum. Here is their website they are a Christian based curriculum

There are quite a few terrific ones out there. I don't know what type you're thinking of but Oak Meadow is good and so is Christopherus. The important thing is finding something that works with your family and your values and keeping it alive with imagination and inspiration. We use Christopherus and we really like it. Horizon Math is great for my first grader. I also loved the First Start Reading Program from Memoria Press. They are both just good classic curriculums.

We loved Bob Jones. Our boys are both at the tops of their class, and one is a year ahead due to the great education they got at Bob Jones. Their teachers at school have also commented on how well-rounded their information is. We're using it again for our littlest next year. Have fun!

I will share that we love teaching textbooks! You can go to their website (just add .com to the end) and try sample lessons to see what it's all about. It's awesome. We also use Veritas Press for much of our curriculum. We use several different things that we've discovered along the way. I highly recommend going to a homeschool conference. I highly recommend the one that is in Denver every June. Many of our neighboring states have people there every year. It is one of the best conferences in the country for homeschooling. The vendor hall is huge, so you will be able to get a hand's on look at everything you might be considering. You can go to chec.org to find out more.

Check out Teaching Textbooks for math. They have a demo and placement test. You can get them on Amazon, but they are much cheaper from Emmanuel Books. I have chosen to customize my cirriculum, but use a lot of Seton and Mother of Divine Grace.
