Hi everyone.. just thought i'd come see what you all thought..

I'm on my second sinus infection in a month..
had thrush/2 yeast infections/bacterial vaginal infection
(all of which I got treated for by meds... augmentin/diflucan/flagyl)

My period this month was just about a day and a half of really light spotting..

Do you guys think the fact I really didn't have a period this month was due to the meds I took since the middle of december.. or possibly might be early pregnant?

Thanks :)

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

**01/15/12 - I just thought I'd come let you all know.. I took a home test and it was negative.. so I went to urgent care today at my doc office & turns out what I have is "walking pneumonia".. I told him about all of the other infections I got off of Augmentin and he said he wouldn't give it to me.. and gave me a little stronger antibiotic and a cough syrup. Told me if i wasn't better by wednesday to fill the steroid scrip he gave me too..

thank you everyone for all your responses.. just to clarify, we never had sex while I had the infections in that area or while on the medicines for them.. but just on the antibiotics for sinus infections.. I will post what happens when I find out :)

All I want to say is that you are a better woman than me if you had sex with all that you listed going on 'down there.' I would have rolled over in bed and said leave me alone.

Let us know if your pregnant, as I sit here questioning my libido.

First, very frequently candida/yeast in the sinuses are misdiagnosed for a bacterial sinus infection and you get "another sinus infection" once the antibiotic is done, because it's really yeast. If this antibiotic doesn't clear it up, maybe try getting oregano capsules and taking a few each day, cutting out sugar, dairy and breads for ONE week?

You could be pregnant, but the hormones might be messed up by the meds...or women tend to get vaginal candida and bacterial issues when the hormones are off and screw up the delicate pH in the system.

Remember, you pass yeast back and forth if you are having sex with your husband and he has yeast, but men rarely get symptoms other than fatigue and sinus stuffiness.

J.:

Start using Neil-Med sinus rinse before bed...I do not like Neti Pots - they are messy - and that will help with the sinus infections.

The other infections? I would be concerned about where I am picking up so much yeast and have some tests run to find out what is causing this. Yes, some antibiotics cause yeast infections - that's why they recommend eating yogurt while on antibiotics so that your good yeast doesn't disappear.

If you had sex while on antibiotics and using the pill - yeah - you could be pregnant - although I wouldn't want to be having sex with a yeast infection or thrust. eewww. that's me.

if you have been on antibiotics for more than 5 days - ask your doctor for a blood test for pregnancy...

have your husband checked for a yeast infection too - yep - men get those and if they go un-treated they just give 'em back to you.

Hello and hope you're feeling better! I suffer from sinus infections as well and when given antibodics it's a given....yeast infection. Talk to your dr about a different antibodic, but I thought augmentin doesn't cause an yeast infections? One thing that has helped me, eating yogurt. I made it part of my every day eating. The bacteria in the yogurt helps the bacteria in associated with an yeast infection.
As far as your period, not sure, but I would consult with the dr.
Good luck....................

i got pregnant with my twins right after taking Clindamycin after have some dental surgery, which caused me to get C-Diff, so then I had to take Flagyl. Some/most antibiotics cause you to ovulate. So it is possible you are pregnant. I say go out and get yourself a home pregnancy test and see what it says. You never know, it's all just a guessing game until you take that test. Good luck!

Some Antibiotics do something to prevent birthcontrol pills from being effective, so can get pregnant even on the pill. If you are on BC pill, always ask the pharmacist about side effects of medications.

Of course antibiotics can mess up the normal "flora" of the g-i tract and make you more susceptible to yeast. Yeast can be anywhere, it loves warm damp places to grow. Mouth, gut, vaginal, perineal area, skin folds, etc. It can also get into the blood stream and fungal infections are very difficult to treat. Hormones, steroids and sugar can also be factors.

Look into high quality nutritional supplements to improve your immune system.

Please take a pregnancy test. With all the drugs you are on or have taken in the last month, you need to know if you are pregnant. Some antibiotics and anti-fungals pose some risk to a developing baby. Dollar store tests are reliable, so no need to spend a bunch of money to put your mind at ease. Hope you feel better soon. Might want to consider decreasing the sugar in your diet and taking a course of probiotics to restore the delicate balance of organisms in your body.

Antibiotics nix birthcontrol pills (or patch, ring, shot... any kind of hormonal BC). You have to wait a whole cycle (month) past your *last day* of taking antibiotics before your birthcontrol will be effective again.
