What Automatic Coffee Maker Do You Have? and Do You like It?

We are ready for a new coffee maker. This one's giving us issues (will brew the coffee, but it sometimes won't drain into the carafe, so it's then overflowing in the coffee grinds area and making a mess.) We bought two different ones a few months ago - don't remember the brands - but one just worked the one time and then stopped brewing coffee. The other had a weird metally taste to it - probably from the metal carafe instead of glass carafe.

We need an automatic one. So many makers out there and so many varieties and brands. I don't know where to start. Would rather NOT buy a Keurig as I would rather buy cheaper coffee at the grocery store. (Eh - nevermind! Thanks for the posters who corrected me on this error!) Would like to spend less than $50 if possible.

Thanks in advance for all y'all's help!

I have the Cuisinart Brew Central and I love it. I really like that I don't have to buy paper filters anymore. I bought this one because my MIL and SIL both have it and they love it too. It is around $80, but I got mine at Bed, Bath & Beyond and used a 20% off coupon. I think Kohls has it too and they always have coupons. I've even found Kohl's 30% off coupon codes online.

We broke down and bought a Keuring and love it! I know you said you don't want one because you want the cheaper coffee from the store but you can buy a reusable pod for it (it sometimes comes with it) so you can use any coffee you want. You can also use your own tea in the pod. We use it for hot water for oatmeal. You can use any tea bags you want and just use it for the hot water. You can make iced coffee and tea by simply putting ice cubes in your cup and brewing onto them. Ours goes on in the morning and gets turned off at bedtime and gets used all the time.
You can get great deals on the pods on Amazon. Bed Bath and Beyond sells them and we're always getting coupons for 20% off in the mail which helps.
One trick..I use larger mugs so I run through the pod twice to fill my cup and I still get a fantastic cup of coffee. You do not need to use 2 of them. Some of my favorite cups hold 22oz and it still tastes wonderful!
I love the fact that I can have one cup of caffeinated then one cup of decaff in the morning since I cut down substantially on my caffeine intake but still love my coffee.
I sound like a Keurig commercial LOL But they are really great and a lot more flexible then they appear to be.

You can buy the Keurig & still buy regular coffee. They sell a permanent filter just for this purpose. I have one & it works great.

ETA - sorry, I didn't read the other responses suggesting the same thing, before I posted my answer.

Getting a Keurig was well worth the money. The convenience of it making a cup in 30 seconds is key! You do not have to put expensive coffee in it. Buy the filter and put your own cheap coffee in it! You won't be disappointed.

Keurig's are nice...while they work. : /
My mom just packed up her 2nd one for the trash man.
And she took excellent care of it.
She will not be getting another.
We have a Cuisinart.
I really like it.
I have family members who swear that Bunn makes the best coffee maker.
Which may be true...but not affordable for us.
Ours was $120 list but we got it at Sears for $50.
Whatever you do...don't buy a Mr. Coffee.
Mr. Coffee may have had a good reputation in the past but somewhere along the line the product got crappy and cheap.
Ours died after a very short time and never made the coffee hot enough. My mom had one too, gave it to my brother when she got her Keurig. While still alive, it makes luke warm coffee, too.
HTH! GL!

I have two coffeemakers. One is the Hamilton Beach SmartBrew, which is great because you don't use a carafe (but, hubby doesn't like it so it's our spare), and the other is the Mr. Coffee 8 cup with the carafe which holds coffee fresh for 3 hours. The Mr. Coffee is great and it was $43 at Kmart. The only problem with it is that you need to buy a permanent coffee filter (basket style) to put in it because for some odd reason, the paper coffee filters always manage to fold over once in a while and then you get coffee grinds in your coffee. For the taste factor, I would advise getting one with a metal carafe as opposed to a glass carafe because the metal keeps coffee from getting that burnt taste.

We bought the senseo with the pods. They are hard to find and hubby uses two at a time. They are expensive, there is no timer, and the water tank is small. I suggest not getting it.

Krups. Purchase the basic one.. No timers. Also purchase the gold filter. No more paper filters.. But never place the filter in the dishwasher, just rinse it out.

Also you must make sure the carafe is really all the way against the back of the maker, or it will spill over in any coffee maker.

I was a buyer for small appliances and we found that the timers burn out really fast. It is just best to purchase the basic coffee maker and use a wall timer..

The gold filters allow the coffees, best full flavor.

I spent about 2 months researching the best and most reliable coffee makers back in the day,.

I have a Bunn. I love it because you leave it on all the time and the reservoir has the hot water in it already so you can brew your coffee in 3 minutes. they are a little pricey tho. My dad bought me mine, it's my second one in 20 years, so they do last and are worth the money as far as I can tell. Before that I was just a regular ol' Mr Coffee user.
I'd like to have a keurig tho, they seem pretty cool and flexible.
