What Are the Signs of Teething?

Fever, diareah, fussing,drooling & chewing on everything is definetly teething symptoms. i have 4 grown children & 4 grandchildren. you might try baby teething numbs it or cold or frozen things like a teething ring that is put in the freezer it feels real good on there gums & releive the pain also tylenol for the fever.

I would say that if your son is between the ages of 3 and 9 months of age, he is most likely teething, but if you're concerned that it could be something more or different, a call to the pediatrician never hurts. Learn to trust your "mom senses".

It sounds to me like your son is teething.But don't be surprised if it takes a while for his teeth to actually erupt.
I guess that babies can teethe for quite a while before they start showing there teeth:)

Maybe to comfort him,put a damp washcloth in the freezer for a bit&then give it to him to chew on...my son liked that because he never really took to the teething toys that are out there.And if he is having a very bad day,maybe give him some Tylenol drops:)

My 18 month old daughter has a horrible time when she's teething, . . all the symptoms you mentioned and diahrrea and the fussy part is with a capital F! Nothing makes her happy when she's teething, we just give her what she wants, popcycles, apples are good depending on how old he is. They have a good firmness, with a little bit of sweet taste. Not getting tired and frustrated is hard, but makes it a lot easier since they can feel your moods. Good Luck!

We're going through the same thing right now with our 7-month-old boy. He's been chewing and drooling since he was 2 months, and we're still not at the swollen-gums stage. I'm still nursing, so I'm not too anxious for him to get his chompers! Yes, it sounds like your "Mommy instinct" has figured this one out, and if you ever feel uneasy about his symptoms, call your pediatrician.

Yes he is teething, give him something very cold to chew on,or suck on, like freeze something so it gets very cold.

Sound lite teething to me. Have you tried a frozen/chilled teether, or just a wet washcloth chilled? I know for my two kids, giving some infant tylenol, or baby oral gel worked too. I tried to give the tylenol right before bed, or if the oral gel didn't work. It is stressful, and the best you can do sometimes is just hold them, if they'll let you and let them know that you still love them.

My name is C. I am currently on my thrird child. I was wondering how old your son is? Also it sounds like he is teething,all children are different, and can start teething as early as 3months. The only thing that threw me off with your son symptoms was the sleeping alot. most children do want to sleep when they are teething.The best thing I found for teething is Hylands teething pills, you just give them 2-3 pills that melt in thier mouth.I swear by the stuff it works better than numzit or oregel. Also a wash cloth wet that has been in the freezer for a while works good for the chewing.

Those are all def signs of teething. My youngest is 7 months and doing the same thing. Keep in mind that they can "teeth" for several weeks or even months without the tooth pushing through right away, so don't be scared if the behavior and fevor continues for awhile. I love and use the Hylands teething tablets like a prior posting said. Also, a little tylenol for the fever should do the trick. Good luck and I hope our babies are over this soon.

The signs that you list in your posting are all signs of teething. They will sometimes rub their tounges over their gums also. Often they will have a running nose too.
How old is your boy? Babes tend to teeth for a while, not get a tooth, teeth again, not get a tooth and then at some point finally break the tooth through.

Well, sounds like teething to me! Hylands teething tablets work well for some babies, Camomilla tablets work well for those who don't respond to the others. Strong, chamomile tea in a bottle or cup is GREAT. Catnip tea for the really bad times. I try not to use tylenol or ibuprofen because I can tell it makes her feel wierd, if I have to use it, I start with the HALF the dose reccomended. ANd of course, nursing!

When our little boy started teething (at about 10 months), it was his bottom teeth that came first. He too was fussy, drooling, runny nose and feverish. It was really hard for us to tell for sure if it was teething with his first tooth, probably that way for a lot of first time moms. But when his second (and then top 4 all at once) came in, it was easier to know the signs, which are all the ones you mentioned. In addition to those, his gums really would get red and swollen where the next tooth would be appearing. If you would push on the gums, they would feel squishy, due to swelling. And just like when you "fist" your hand, your knuckles get white, his gums would have a little white spot where the tooth would be coming in. Hope that helps you out.

You've listed all the symptoms except swolen gums! One thing he'll really like -- use your fingers to press down really h*** o* the swolen gums. This helps to push some of the liquid swelling the gums (its not just teeth!) back into his circulation giving him some relief. Great teething tool: frozen miniture bagels.

try Hylands teething tablets..they are all natural. Didn't work for my daughter but works almost instantly for my son. They dissolve in the mouth (under the tongue). can usually find at bartells,fred meyer,some grocery stores. good luck.
