My SIL just got engaged and she is looking for a fabulous outdoor venue with an indoor space for the reception. She does not have a very large budget either. Does anyone know of any places to check out? Thanks!

What can I do next?

if she's into it, you can get married at the renaissance festival in sept/oct. my husband and i were thinking about it but got married at the star trek place in vegas instead.

My son and daughter-in-law were married at the Hawthorne House in Parkville, absolutely fabulous setting and accommodations! They were married "off season" on a Sunday afternoon for huge discount. Friday's and Saturday's are most popular wedding dates, so are more expensive. http://www.projectwedding.com/vendor/show/hawthorne-house
They were wonderful to work with and food was excellent!
Another place I hear about weddings, is the Wornall House in the Brookside area, also Loose Park. I have no idea about cost in those places, but they book way in advance.

My husband's cousin just got married at Bingham Wagoner Estate (it's like around Lee's Summit I think??) and it was pretty. The ceremony space is outside as well as the reception space. We went in October which was less than ideal to be honest, but it was pretty. The buffet and changing rooms for the bride and party are inside the estate and there are a few rooms for people to sit around and lounge on the inside, but overall the inside is small. Although there is a gift shop, which is oddly fabulous, and connected to it is another smaller hall/room which might be available to use as well.

There is another place, I totally spaced on the name but it's in Parkville and it's really cute. There is a small chapel to get married and then you walk up this hill to the estate and there is a big ball room. I'm pretty sure you can have an ourdoor wedding too but not positive.

We also went to a wedding at the Red Barn Farm also near Parkville and that was a neat place too. It's more country than shiek, but it's cute. The ceremony space is outside and the reception space is mostly inside, but it sort of lets out into the field so like basically it's open on a few sides but has a roof. That place is probably the most budget friendly but you have to pay for everything there...like the tables and chairs are extra I think and I'm pretty sure they don't offer any catering choices, you have to do all outside stuff (as in not related to the farm, not outdoors!)

That's what I know! Hope that helps and best wishes to your SIL!
