Hello Oswego moms. I currently live in north of Dallas TX and have my whole life. My husband is from East IA and has lived here for 10+ years. I (we) are considering moving to Il and I really like the looks of Oswego. The homes, schools and area seem nice to me online. I was wondering if any of moms could tell me a great area to relocate to. I am 34 my husbands 31 my sons 4 and daughter 9 months. I'm a stay at home mom. I am used to living near shopping such as malls and groc but I also want to live near schools and parks. Any ideas, help, relocation advice would be great.

Our price range is between $250,000 to $285,000. From what I find on the internet I like the Fox Bend Golf Course area.

Thank you in advance,
T. Lee

I live in Aurora, but frequent Oswego often. Just a bit of information, very recently it was mostly cornfields. Therefore, the schools and shopping and lots of houses are newer. It has really exploded in growth in the last 10 years. If you are just staying in the town, it has a lot to offer at very reasonable prices. Traffic would be a big concern. Depending on where you work. It might seem like just one quick road to the train station or offices, but it can get very gridlocked during rush hour. Plainfield also is an affordable suburb, but if you have to go on Hwy 59 for any part of your commute, you might want to rethink the area. Chicagoland is beautiful and we have definate 4 seasons (well, we mostly have two, summer and winter). I love the high swings in temperature. It gets really hot and humid, but then it gets really cold. You learn to appreciate nice days. You don't really have too much of one or the other. It's a nice balance. Good luck!

Hello T.! My name is S. and I actually live in Aurora but almost in Montgomery Illinois! I am only 5 minutes from all the new subdivisions in Oswego! It is a great place to live too! I am also very close to where you talked about moving! Not only is it a beautiful place with beautiful houses but it is so close to any shopping you need! I love that about where I live! Everything is only 2 to 5 minutes from us! I would definitely recommend it! And in your price range I am sure that will work! My uncle is a realtor and so is my friend so they would be more then happy to talk to you and help you if need be!
I am married and have 3 kids! Lexie is almost 13 in Nov, Lauren is 10 and Erik is 5! Good luck and let me know if you would like my help or some contact numbers of my uncle and/or my friend!

My family moved to Oswego 3 years ago from NJ. We were previously in IL (Plainfield area 7 years ago) prior to moving out to NJ, but when we decided to move back we looked at different communities and schools etc... We decided on Oswego because of the schools and community. We have never been happier. The schools are great, the people in the community are great. You will be SOO happy here. We live in Deerpath Trail subdivision. We have some friends in Fox Chase, Lakeview, Churchhill, Morgan Valley and Ashcroft neighborhoods. We have 3 yr old girl and 5 yr old boy. Let me know if you need any specific advice, I am always willing to help.

Oswego is great- it is loaded with great homes at great prices. There is a lot of inventory there so you should be able to get a great deal! I don't know where you or your husband plan to work, the only downside can be the commutes. From what my co-workers tell me, getting out of Oswego can take additional time because it is far off of the highways. If that isn't an issue for you or your husband, it is great! The subdivisions are beautiful!

Hi T.,

I have lived in Oswego for the past 7+ years and we love it!
I grew up in Chicago but my husband grew up in rural Indiana and it was a nice fit for us. It has grown so much in the time I have been here and now lots of shopping and things to do in the area. Very family-oriented. I am very happy with the schools and park district. You will find something in your price range too. Lots of nature and history. We are close to Naperville which offers a lot of great stuff too! Good luck with the move! S.

Churchill Club subdivision in Oswego is awesome. The homes are in your price range. We have a beautiful clubhouse, pool, tennis courts, basketball courts and sand volleyball. There is a grade /middle school in the subdivision and the high school is just blocks away. Our subdivision is LOADED with children. There are very few homes without children. So your kids are sure to make lots of friends, and there is always a babysitter to be found. As far as stores go literally walking distance-just 2 blocks away is everystore you could want. From JC Penneys to Khols, to super walmart to Meijers to Lowes, home depot, ulta three, old navy, Dominicks, Target etc...Check it out. Oswego, Il. 60543. Oswego also is in a great school district.
