My daughter is 14 months and will be 15 months on November 2nd. She stands, walks while holding my hand, walks around tables, couches etc...but will not walk by herself. She will take a few steps if i hold my hands out but that's about it. If I am walking with her and let go of her hand she sits down. She loves to crawl, she talks all the time. It just seems like she can't get her balance or is scard. I am worried, but want to get everyone's opinion of when I should really worry.
Well, thank you for responding! My daughter started walking last night :) She finally stood up and just walked everywhere. I appreciate all the support!

My daughter did not start walking until 15 mos. ANd what helped the process was a baby stroller and a baby that she could push around herself. And in a couple of days(I kid you not) she was gone. ANother mother shared that with me and hope it helps you as well!
Hello! Love your name, my 6 year old's name is T.. Please don't worry about your little one. My 6 & 7 year olds did not walk until they were at least 17 months old. I was pretty grateful, actually. When they start walking, you start following them around...everywhere!! :) I just realized that you wrote this Oct., how is she doing now?
I wouldn't worry about it at all, but here's tip you could try:
Let her hold smaller balls, one in each hand. Then hold her fists and let her start walking. As she gets going, let go. She'll feel like she's still holding onto something and therefore may gain a little courage to go on without you. Also, bare feet helps.

My daughter did not walk until she was 16 months old. The only reason she finally started doing it is because the sitter made her! On day whaen she got there and started to crawl the sitter stood her up and said " No More Crawling. You are going to walk today". After doing that about 5 times, she never looked back and is now running everywhere she goes! It just takes time. She is scared. That was my daughters problem. She was a t a sitters house and she was the youngest one. Crawling was much safer. Now that she is walking though, the others don't she her as a baby and they play alot more. SHe will walk! Don't worry!
I had the same worries as you. My son is almost 17 months old and just started walking two weeks ago. I thought he would never do it. Now, he walks everywhere and is even trying to run! I think it just takes some a little longer than others. Just keep doing what you are doing and I am sure he will get it. Good Luck!
My little girl didn't begin to walk until she was 17 months old. It really worried me, but the pediatrician said not to worry, that it was normal. I had heard somewhere (maybe from her pediatrician, not sure at this point) That if a child is quite talkative at an early age, they stand a good chance at walking a little later than we mommies would like to see. And the opposite scenario occurs: If the child walks at an early age, chances are, that child will talk a little later than the "average" child. I'm not sure if this is true, but my child was a little chatter box at a very early age (and still is at almost 4 years!) and didn't walk until 17 months. I'd mention it to your pediatrician the next time you're there for a visit, but from what I've seen in my child, I wouldn't worry just yet. :-)
I wouldn't worry about it. Lots of kids don't walk until they are 16-18 months old. My daughter's pediatrician said that she probably wouldn't walk until she was 15 months old and she was walking at 11 months, so you just never know (and neither do they). If she can walk while holding your hands and she can "cruise" furniture, then I would not be concerned about any kind of developmental delay. She is just taking her time. Once they're off to the races, they never stop, so enjoy the last few weeks of your sanity! :-)

Please don't worry about it. My son started walking when he was 17 months old. I thought he'd never start. Enjoy the down time for now. Soon it will be a different world for you both! :)

I have 2 brothers who are 6 years and 4 1/2 years older than I am, so mom always told me all I ever had to do was hold up my hands, and Daddy or one of my brothers would pick me up! I didn't start really walking on my own until I was 16 months old, either (same as your daughter).
I also have a 2 1/2 year old son who didn't start walking until he was 15-16 months old, because he wasn't quite "ready" to before then. His brother couldn't walk until he was 19 months old because he had a lot of fluid building up in his ears that upset his balance. I had to throw a fit and fall in it to get the ear specialist to put tubes in (kept getting told "he hasn't had enough ear infections"...phooey! He COULDN'T WALK!!!!) Anyway, finally got the tubes, and he was RUNNING the day after his surgery!! YAY!!!
If your daughter hasn't had anything like a lot of sinus or ear infections or problems with allergies, she will probably start walking on her own very soon. Just be patient with her and keep encouraging her to walk, and she will get there!
