No, I would not have any direct contact with the driver. Let the insurance co handle it. Just keep calling his insurance company to check status.

When you exchange information you got his insurance info. Did you call in the accident to the police? A police report really helps in the insurance claims process (and can answer questions as to who is at fault). Your insurance is correct - you need to call his insurance company and ask what procedures need to be followed. It would be nice if they talked to the other guy, but ultimately they need to deal with you whether they hear from him or not. It's not up to you to call him yourself. (If he let his insurance coverage lapse, they are not going to do anything for you. In which case you'll be dealing with your insurance or will have to pay for repairs yourself and go after the money from this guy in small claims court.) Call them every day. Take notes. Write down who you talk to, get their number (in case you need to call them back) and when. Be polite, but be clear you are not going away until they have dealt with you. You'll probably need to get several estimates of the damage and what it'll cost to fix it, then they decide to pay the lowest amount. I hope you can get this resolved as easily as possible.

I agree DO NOT CALL THE DRIVER, you can inadvertanly hurt your case if you talk to him. Keep calling the insurance for updates

When you've been in an accident, never contact the other driver once a claim has been filed. Two days seems like a long time, but whether he answers the phone or not, as long as he has insurance, the two insurance companies will work things out. If he's not insured, hopefully you were covered for "uninsured drivers", meaning your insurance policy will cover the damages.
Stay in touch with your insurance company and give them a chance to handle it. If the damage is severe, you will be without your truck for a while anyway.
Accidents are very upsetting. But, stay in touch with your insurance company. Hopefully you have a good one.....and they will help you get your claim processed and recover from the other insurance company.

Never contact the other person if you have filed a claim, that is what your insurance company does. Do you know if the other guy had insurance? If he did have insurance your insurance company would talk to his insurance company. If either you or him dose not have insurance the process can take longer so you will have to just stay in contact with the insurance company and be patient.

My insurance company has us get a quote ASAP so they know the amount they are going after THEN we pay the deductible and they pay the rest right away so we can get the vehicle fixed ASAP (we don't have to do that, we can wait for the claim to be settled BUT we want/need the car back ASAP so we take the risk & pay it). They keep working with the other person insurance company to get the money and we then get back our deductible once the claim is settled. Some times it takes weeks or months depending on how serious the accident is, in your case it sounds just like the car is damaged no one was hurt so it is not a serious life threatening accident.

Check what your insurance needs from you, make sure you have given all info that is needed. Also check what coverage you have if the other person is uninsured. Then be patient, never contact the other person directly since you have filed a claim, let the insurance company handle it.

Do you have his insurance info? You can contact them and get the claim started but they probably have to get a hold of him to to ask questions. Whenever I've been in an accident I just dealt with the other persons insurance myself. They should get you a rental car too. Good luck!
