Hi everyone!!!

First -thank you all for the wonderful replies I got and the support from all of you!!!That was very much appreciated!

I just wanted to update you a little -maybe some other mom who will read it will get some comfort or help from my experience.

I had an appo with my doc, I asked to make it earlier than the 6 weeks appo I had, and saw him on Friday , almost 2 weeks after my d&c.

I am so happy I went to him. I just love him! His great!
He gave me green light to go on with ttc right away, and said I can have fun there as long as I am ready and willing to move on. Well I am more than ready...

He calmed me down said everything is going to be just fine and the d&c won't affect the chances to get preg again. He also got the results from the hospital about my baby, and it appears there was no other problem, beside the true knots in the cord, and the baby was totally healthy...so I was among the 1% of babies who get tangled with the cord and have true knots...well everything happens for a reason,I guess...

Anyway, my dh and me have decided to ttc right away, we are more than ready to move on, and I am so hoping to write you all soon ,hopefully with good news...

Please take care of yourselves, we are all int eh same boat and can comfort each other when needed!!!

God bless us all!

I am so sorry for your heartbreak and went through the same thing. I waited one cycle just to make sure that everything was back in sync. Was lucky and two months later, was pregnant again. I now have a vivacious 3 year old.

Good luck and prayers!!

Hey S.,
I am very sorry to hear of your loss. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
I was told to wait 3 cycles after my loss. You really need that time not only for your body, but for your emotions as well. Allow yourself these 2-3 months to grieve for the child you lost. Your heart will eventually heal.
I bled/spotted for about 10 days after my D&C. It didn't take any time to get back in a regular cycle either. I went on to have 2 healthy pregnancies without complications. Good luck to you and God Bless!

I had a D&C in Feb of this year and after my first cycle foloowing the procedure I got pregnant. Personally I would not recommend it. I know the desire is SO strong to move forward for that much wanted child, but your body needs time to heal. This pregnancy has been very hard on my body. I have been to the E.R. three times due to terrible pelvic pain. My body just did not have enough time to recover. Also, your heart needs time to recover. It is devastating to lose a child.
Hope this helps

S.,

I too had a D&C after a miscarriage at 16 weeks. The baby came out fine but the ER doctor did not get all of the placenta out and for days after the miscarriage I was passing huge clots. The D&C took care of the clots just fine and if I remember correctly, it was a few weeks before the bleeding stopped. Compared to how you bleed though after a full term pregnancy (6 weeks or so), the bleeding after the D&C was short.

We were not trying to concieve when I got pregnant three months after that miscarriage. I had miscarried our first baby in 1995 then dealt with infertility for four years 'til the 2nd pregnancy in 1999. So I was totally shocked when I got pregnant not even three months later! I personally wouldn't be too concerned with complications or waiting a cycle. Chances are you wouldn't concieve that soon anyway.

I understand totally. I just had a d&c Monday after no hb. You really need to wait 1 cycle. After a d&c , your body almost responds like a birth, you should wait for any sex till about 2 weeks post op to reduce infection since the meds they use to dialate the uterus can take that long to wear off. And yes at 4 days post op I am only spotting if that. Good luck and trust your dr.

I am sorry that happened to you. I had a similar situation but waited to miscarry (but was not as far along as you were).

I loved the message board fertilityfriend.com
and got a lot of great information and support from them. I am not a patient person and it took a while for us to get pregnant with both our children.

That being said...you are supposedly you most fertile after a pregnancy so I would say go for it!

Take your doctors advice and wait, give yourself the best possible chance for a healthy pregnancy and a healthy baby. It's worth the wait. It took about three weeks for the bleeding to completely stop for me.

Hi S.,
Many years ago when that happened to me, I was told 3 months. I understand being anxious to try again. I'm also a pediatrician, so I'll explain why they recommend the wait from a medical standpoint. You want to give your uterine wall lining time to rebuild itself to a healthy state so that it can support another pregnancy better. Remember this is where all of the placental support is coming from. A d&c scrapes that away so you want it to rebuild thick and strong to increase your success for another pregnancy. Follow your doctor's advice. It'll pay off in the long run. Hope this helps! I forgot to add that I had two miscarriages, my first pregancy and my third pregnancy, and I conceived succesfully after waiting after each one. Now I have 3 beautiful children! God will bless you, too!

I suffered two miscarraiges and I didn't wait any time at all to try again. I got pregnant again right away and those babies survived. Good luck.

So sorry to hear about your loss. I miscarried @ 11 weeks and it was really hard. The reason they tell you to wait is for your uterine lining to build up enough to be able to stay pregnant the next time. If you don't wait, you are at a higher risk of miscarrying again. As hard as it was to wait, I waited 1 cycle, which took about 2 months to come back, and now have a 3 week old! Good luck to you!!!

I know you are grieving and really want a baby, but your body needs a little time to recover. I'm not sure if you even could get preg. before a cycle. The cycle is your clue that the body is ready to try again. I think I was pregnant 4 months after my d&c (and yes it seemed like forever, when what you really want is a baby)

Hey S.,

At minimum you should wait at least one cycle for a fresh and new linig to form, so your next attempt can embed properly. Most physicians recommend waiting 3 cycles and some only one. You should follow your doctor's advice. Trying before your new lining is formed is risky as you could concieve and due to poor implantation, loose that baby too!

As for how long you will bleed post d&c, that varies person to person. Sometimes not at all to a week-10days. Just know that it should all be spotting, light bleeding, not enough to soak a pad. It if gets heavy at all, call your doctor immediately. Color should go from bright red to a brown over if lasting a week.

And S., my heart goes out to you. Loosing a baby, no matter how far into a pregnancy is not easy. The logical stuff like it was probably a chromosomal abnormality, so it's best, doesn't help you heart. May you find peace of mind with your loss, and may your heart be healed soon. I hope for a sweet baby blessing to be yours soon.
God Bless and much Baby Dust,
-MB
