To Drink Tap Water or Not?

We have been buying water by using our own container in the past years, recently I bought this Brita pitcher and was hoping I can use it to have a good quality of drinking water/ and to save time and $$ of buying water but I am really disappointed....the tap water from Brita pitcher still has some chemical taste that I don't like, I know the water we bought from the market is tap water as well just because they use better filter system to eliminate the order and chemical.
What kind of water do you drink?? Do you use any filter unit other than Brita? I would love to hear from you.

Thanks moms.

We have a water dispenser on our fridge and we use that- it has a filter built in. We used to use a Brita before we had this fridge and I think it tended to have a chemical taste at first. I think you are supposed to soak the filter for 10 minutes and run three pitchers through or something like that and I would do a lot more to try to get rid of the taste faster.

We drink tap water. My pediatrician said it is important that kids get tap water because it has flouride in it and they need that for healthy teeth nad bone growth. Bottled water is too expensive to use all the time and I have done brita, but in teh end, tap water wins out with me :)

I agree it can be expensive - however, I live in South Elgin where our water is treated well water...and there are times it comes out yellow & has a horrible odor to it...we found out that it's too much Iron...you cannot use a charcoal filter to get that out. We wanted to buy a house filtration system and put in a water softner as well, however because our plumbing is screwed up, it was going to cost over $2000...so I went online to a company that makes filters for faucets and showerheads...It has changed the water where we use it! I use a Brita pitcher and love it. I used to have a filter attached to my sink (on the fauncet) but then we changed the type of faucet. It could be you are extra sensitive to taste or it could be the pipes in your house are older. My friend uses a Pur filter and is happy with that. I think you will have to try out different kinds of filters in your home or maybe double filter the water. Either way, it will be cheaper of the long run than buying the water.

Government regulations for city water are stricter than for bottled water. The only reason to avoid city water is if you are avoiding flouride, which most filters do NOT filter out.

We live in Elgin and drink tap water that we filter through a faucet Brita filter.
