Thermos/Cup For Kindergarten

I am looking into getting my son a new cup/thermos for school when he starts kindergarten. He currently has the Thermos FUNcontainer which is basically like a flip lip type. But I need to switch it because the lid keeps opening and I can't be having this happen at school now that he's going to be bringing stuff home. School basically wants something they can do on their own. So that means no screw top and I'm not doing juice boxes since he'd need help with that anyways. So does anyone have any suggestions???

What can I do next?

Without using something w/ a fliptop, you will have to go with a thermos (which he may need some help with). If he's going to kindergarten, he should be able to put a straw in a juicebox. If he can't right now, start working with him...show him how, let him try, have him start doing it.

Capri Sun's are great because you can get juice, flavored water, or even the Berry flavored vegetable juice...light weight and you can freeze over night and they will thaw in time for lunch (eliminates the need for an ice pack while keeping lunch cold).

Most of the kids in our school either use juice boxes or they buy milk or water, and every kindergarten kid raises their hand and has the cafeteria aide open the drink for them. This still happens in second grade. whatever you choose, try practicing with him over the summer so he is used to it by the start of school.

The place I've found with the most choices available is Target. The key is that you have to look in the camping and outdoor section. There's are all kinds of sizes and shapes to choose from. I would start looking there. Take him with you so you can see if he open and close it by himself.

I think a coolster would be a good idea. They can be found by the sippy cups but they don't look like baby sippy cups. I have 2 for my daughter and we take them with us when we go somewhere.

Try Camelbak. I use that for my kids but are for adults too. You can find at amazon.com, sporting stores and even some Targets. It has a straw and spout and won't spill! There are so many options now but I like this brand because the straws don't get moldy easily. You can also buy brush to clean the straw with. Not many places have it but amazon does.

Camelbak water bottle for kids. They offer stainless steel or BPA free plastic in the kid size. It has a straw that flips up but it doesn't leak. We carry it around everywhere. Found them at Target and at Marshalls. Also, Kleen Kanteen kid sport top bottle. We used those as soon as my son started on sippy cups because they have a sippy cup option. Love these too.
