Sun Spots

My "sun spots" on my face have really started showing bad this summer. I can cover them okay with makeup but it's without makeup that they really bother me. Does anyone know of any cream or lotions that help get rid of them? I wear sunscreen daily but this is the effects of not wearing any when I was younger! Thanks for your advice!

I had the same problem and went to a dermatologist. They gave me a prescription for Tri-Luma which worked wonders. They told me to use it in conjunction with Revale skin care products (you can buy this without a prescription and it works wonders). I had pretty bad sun spots and this almost completely removed them.

I had these a while back, and when I got off the pill they went away. Now I am back on the pill, but I got some stuff from Ulta that is helping called Exuviance.

I just had some sun spots that bothered me removed via laser treatment. Super fast, easy and only a short minor discomfort. In 4 days my spots literally sloughed off my face. I am very happy with the results and it was not expensive. Go see any spa that has laser therapies or treatments. Good luck!

K.,
My SIL has struggled with the same issues. She is very careful to always wear sunscreen, etc. She has been going to the dermatologist for years and spend thousands of dollars on different prescriptions and none of it has worked. She started using Arbonne's RE9 anti-aging skin care line and over time, it has taken care of the problem. She even took it to her dermatologist who has now started selling it in his office because of the great results he is seeing with it. I have some samples that I would be happy to send you. If you would decide you would like to purchase it, I would give you my 35% discount and Arbonne has a 45 day money back guarantee. If you have any questions or would like to receive the samples or place an order, you can email me at ____@____.com website is www.foravibrantlife.myarbonne.com if you would like to look at Arbonne and the products.
Best wishes!

Try glycolic acid. Not sure where you will find it, try google-ing it. I found it at a private skin and herb shop a long time ago. The lady there was heavily freckled and had used it for a while on one hand. Wow!! What a difference! That hand was smooth, while the other was covered in freckles. I tried using it for acne. The down fall is that it kind of itches when you first put it on. After all, it is sluffing off layers of skin. But, if you can stand it, it seems to work wonderfully! Good luck!

I have used a prescription product called Tri-Luma in the past. It's for a condition called Melamsa which is similar to what you describe. You might check with your dermatologist. It works really well for me.

If you decide to use it, check out the Tri-Luma website. I am usually able to find a rebate coupon for $25.

I use lemon juice (from the actual lemon) and that seems to work on spots. I also use cetaphil lotion (I buy a big jar at WalMart for under $12). When you use the lemon, put the juice on and then rub the rind over the spot(s). It takes a little bit, but it really works. Also, the cetaphil lotion has almost erased some really dark poison ivy 'scars' completely (on my arms). Again, it is not instataneous, but if you're patient, you will see results. I put the cetaphil on every morning before putting on my powder.

I know that mine are driving me INSANE!!!!! I just started using Garnier Skin Renew Lotion with SPF 28. Saw the commercial and thought I'd try it out. I've only been using it 3 days, so we'll see.

I do know that chemical peels & photo facials are great, but can't do them during the summer or you're wasting your money.

I have them also. I grew up in Southern CA, "worshiping" the sun and am now paying for them. I have tried all the creams and lotions that say they get rid of them with no luck and am considering a glycolic acid peel. Sorry I don't have any great advice. Let me know if you find something. Good luck.

I have the same problem! I went to a dermatologist and here is his name and number. I've been using the cream for a while now and have noticed a change. Of course it takes some time and some consistancy but my sun spots are pretty bad. Dr Adler ###-###-#### Park Cities Dermatology Center 8226 Douglas Ave Suite 540. www.dallascosmeticcenter.com

I was also told to get a like a pinkish red concleared to cover up the spots. Good luck girl! (Hmm, makes me wonder if men have the same beauty issues as we do.)

Hi K.!

"Sun spots" are often related to hormones combined with sun exposure and can be very frustrating depending on where they are. I have one on my face that has responded to Arbonne's eye cream in the Nutrimin C RE9 anti-aging line. It has kojic acid which is a natural skin brightener. The whole anti-aging line of skin care works over time to even out skin tone as it enables cell turnover to reveal younger looking skin. I love it! I have samples if you are interested and would be glad to share. That way you can try before you buy. The thing is, it takes time to fade those spots, so you won't see an "immediate" improvement. If you did go ahead and purchase the cream, it has a 45 day money back guarantee for situations like yours. No questions asked. Let me know if you are interested in the samples or just have more questions. My e-mail address is: ____@____.com luck! ~J.

Go to a dermatologist. It may cost a few hundred dollars but then they'd be gone. Then use one of the high-end skin care systems to keep up your face AND use sunscreen.

I use/sell Beauticontrol. I love the Cell Block C am/pm products.

Microderm. Use one of the in your own shower types every 3 days, and use moisturizer with sunscreen in the mornings. I used the Mary kay version, but the others may work fine. The Drs office microderm is good, but a lot more expensive. Use the sunscreen more often while you are microderming - you are more at risk after removing that top layer of skin. You will make more skin, and before long it will ALL be new!!

You are beautiful, with or without spots.

First - up your sunscreen to at least an spf30 EVERY day. If you have an spf15 in your moisturizer, layer on a make-up that also has an spf and that will help with any future damage.

Second - I would recommend a product with some sort of an exfoliating agent to help slough off that dead yucky skin. A product that I have found works really really well is Bliss "sleeping peel liver spot lifter" as an on the spot treatment or Bliss "sleeping peel serum" as an all over daily treatment. Both products are extremely high in amino acids and antioxidants.

Third - I would recommend a vitamin C product to help turn around those damaged skin cells and help protect your sensitive face skin from any further damage or - even worse - cancer. I recommend Skinceuticals CE Ferulic. It's not cheap but it works. Here is a link that I found really informative about this product: http://www.clearcomplexion.net/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWP...

By the way, I have been an esthetician for 8 years. Thought that might be important for you to know. Ha. :)

Good luck!

I used a prescription grade skin care line called Obagi. I got it from my mother's cosmetic surgeon. It cost me $468 to start off and then you just replace products as you run out. It is absolutely amazing. It takes 18 weeks and literally re-programs the skin on your face. It is worth the investment and it will change your life.
