Stretchmarks, Uhhhh I Wish They Would Go Away!

Is there anything out there that anyone has tried that really reduces the appearance of stretch marks? I didn't get mine until the last few weeks of pregnancy, so I was totally bummed when I saw them, but so happy to have the sweet baby I delivered! Mine are on either side of my belly button about 5-6" in length. I know Avon advertises a cream, but before I buy I would like other people’s opinions. I have lost all but 8 lbs of my pregnancy weight and it is all in my stomach area, I had a c-section and don't know if this pudgy area is from the surgery or baby weight. Will tummy exercises reduce the appearance of the stretch marks once my tummy gets flatter if it ever will again?

Thanks!!

M.

I use Vichy stretch mark cream, but have no idea if it will help or not. At least it smells good. Personally I do not think there is anything to be done to prevent stretch marks. I didn't get a single stretch mark in my first two pregnancies, but now in my third, I have plenty, and at 25 weeks I have not gained any weight (am 10 pounds below pre-pregnancy weight!) Explain that who can - even the midwives and doctors are mystified. Oh well. I got them on my legs in puberty and they are barely noticeable (to me, at least), so I am counting on the ones on my stomach going away after a while. If not, at least I came by them "honestly" and for a good reason!

I do not know of any product that makes them go away. During my pregnancy I faithfully used cocoa butter all over my belly as well as vitamin E oil. I do not have stretch marks but I don't know if that is something in my genes or the efforts I took during pregnancy.

I do know that the vitamin E oil works wonders on scars. You can hardly tell I had a hysterectomy in 2002. My scar is very well healed. I had some minor surgery last Monday on my side and I was told that I can start the vitamin E oil when stitches come out next week.!!

I think that genetics plays more of a role in your predisposition for stretch marks. I used stretch mark cream from the time I was 5 weeks pregnant with both of my children, and I still ended up with horrible stretch marks. I didn't gain an excessive amount of weight with the pregnancies either (only 22 and 25 lbs. with the first and second). The stretch marks do fade over time from the dark purple color to a lighter pink or white. I've also heard of some laser skin resurfacing treatments that are supposed to help diminish the appearance, but I haven't personally tried them. My plans are for a tummy tuck and just to have the whole stretch mark section cut out.

Hi M.,
Sorry to hear about the stretch marks. I don't want to sound like an advertisement, but I make a belly butter that's been really successful at preventing stretch marks and could help fade what you've got right now.

I started making the butter when I was pregnant with my first. A bunch of my friends were pregnant at the same time, so I made it as a little gift for all of us. One of my friends continued to use it after her c-section -- on her scar. One day I made a comment about how bad my scar looked and she exclaimed, "Aren't you putting your Muddah Buddah on it?!" The thought had never crossed my mind. I became pregnant again shortly after that. Of course, I used my butter and this time I continued using it on my new c-section scar. I can't believe it, you can hardly see the scar at all. (Unfortunately, that little "pudgy area" is still there in spite of getting back to my pre-baby weight.)

Any way, I was really impressed with how my scar faded after using my product. I even use it on my kiddos. My son took a nasty spill and split his chin open a couple of months ago. It healed, but he had a nasty purple line on his chin. I tried both Mederma and Bio-Oil (both available at WalMart), but they didn't seem to do anything. So, I thought, hey! Why not try the Muddah Buddah. I've been applying it once a day for a couple of weeks now and the scar's already beginning to fade.

Contact me if you're interested. I have a trial size available that's not mentioned on my website. In any case, good luck -- and if you DO find a non-surgical way to get rid of the pudge, I'm all ears!

I had three c sects and lots of stretch marks, I even went to weighing in at 88 pounds and they never went away. I sell a product that claims to lighten them and I use it, so far no new marks and my most recent have faded. Arbonne has a 45 day money back guarantee and I would love to show you some before and after photos. Thanks M.

I have the same problem. Mine popped up after I had my daughter. What I was told to use is Merderma, which I have been doing for only just for a few weeks. Haven't seen any changes as of yet. I would like to now of anything else just as well. I also heard of some type of Cool Beam laser treatment, but need to follow up on that to see if it actually works, and legitimate.

Hi M.! My name is M. too. Have you ever tired Arbonne products? They botanically based and free of harmful chemicals, animal by-products and mineral oil. They are formulated in Switzerland and follow European standards which are much higher than US standards. They have some incredible products that work really well on stretch marks as well as scars. I would be happy to send you some picutes of some results using these products. Just send me your email and I will send the right away. My daughter had plastic surgery on her face to have a birth mark removed when she was only 8. I used these products on her face and saw great results! Also she suffered with exzema from infancy and when I swithced her to Arbonne products it went away. That has been 3 years ago and it has not returned. Hope I can help.

I recently took my daughter to the dermatologis because she has them on her breasts. The Dr. said that if they are purple then then can be treated. He perscribed Retin-A and said it could take up to a year. She has been using it for about 2 months and they are looking better. Good luck.
