Strange Request

Hi E.,
I'm at stay at home mommy to 2 little girls, who are 4 & 2 1/2. Prior to getting pregnant with both of them, I had gone onto AmericanBaby website. From there, I was able to look up my age & the month to get the gender of my baby. It's been a few years now, but, it's under something called Gender, Gender of Baby, something like that. It's been used by the anicent chinese for over 700 years. Believe it or not, it actually worked for me. I didn't tell my husband why some months I was more into concieving than others since I was hoping to have a girl. Anyways, needless to say, we're thrilled to have 2 cute/adorable little girls. I'm in the same situation. I have two boys and we are planning a 3rd and I'm hoping for a girl. Do a google search "how to concieve a girl" You'll get a lot of interesting and some rather strange ideas.

I heard the book "How to Choose the Sex of your baby" by Shettles works 80% of the time for girls. I have not tried it yet(we're not ready) but I have ready to go....

Ah E., my doctor told me that in his opinion the sex of a baby depended mostly upon what the gun was loaded with at the time of conception. But a friend of mine used to tell this joke and I think it's still funny.
We all know the male determines the sex of the child. This man would say, "It's easy to make a girl baby. You've got one right in front of you so you can see what you want to do. To get a boy baby, you have to hang a mirror on the headboard."
Good luck....and you did say anything, even if we knew it was superstition.

i agrey with heather here but also to add in that ive hurd that girls swim slow but steddy and boys swim quik so to have your hubby pull out some but not all the way and for a boy to thrust in as much as posible for the reles good luck

This is probably just coincidence, and it even states on the website that it's for fun purposes only, but this birth calendar has turned out to be true 8 out of 11 times (for myself, family and friends)!

Go to Wed MD, they have an ovulation calendar and you can "try for a boy" or "try for a girl". You drink coffee, go in the bath, all sorts of things and it tells you what day to do it according to what sex baby you want to concieve

I too, read a book on the subject and followed what was outlined in the book. I can't remember the title of the book as it was almost ten years ago. It had to do with the timing of when you had intercourse and ovulation. I believe if you have intercourse two days before you ovulate it will increase your chance of having a girl. It worked for us. We have a boy and a girl. It worked for my friend too! Good luck!

I've heard that chocolate and foods high in Magnesium can help with a girl b/c they are on the basic side of the pH scale and supposedly is more hospitable for girl sperms, but I don't know- maybe just a good reason to eat more chocolate. Really trying to have a girl will depend more on the timing of sex and your ovulation- girl sperms are slower but last longer than boy sperms so having sex before ovulate and the girl sperms survive to fertilize the egg

They said to look at the little white spot on your baby's head. I don't know what they are called if is in the center it will be the same gender if is off the left or right it will be opposite gender. They also said to eat plenty of sweets 3-6 months prior to conceiving. I don't know if its just you or both you and your husband. You can also check the chinese predicting gender chart. Try to conceive in the months that says it will be a girl. I don't know if they are true or not but it doesn't hurt to try right.

Strangely, I heard a news report saying that if you eat breakfast everyday, esp. high-fiber and enriched wheat cereal and oatmeal, you will more likely have a boy. Well, I always eat breakfast and I love cereal and oatmeal and I have a boy. I would like to have a girl for my next child, so does that mean I have to skip breakfast and go back to my college diet of coffee for breakfast? Or maybe bacon and eggs? Hahaha, don't know if it's true or not.

I have to just point out one thing, the obvious- we are all so blessed to be able to have children and to get a healthy child is unbelievable. Life sometimes doesn't work as planned- for me, no plans ever seem to work out so I stopped making them! But, to have 2 boys is a true blessing! Hi, I agree with Reva, the male sperms have to die off first then the females are left. Timing is very important, catch the sperms at the end, the females hang in there. good luck...

We used the "How to Choose the Sex of Your Baby" book, also, and had our girl. I've heard it's easier if you want to conceive a boy, but we are now happy with one of each, and I followed the book's advice.

I read a book called How To Choose The Sex Of Your Baby by Dr. Shettles, and I successfully have had a girl and a boy using it. It outlines the steps to take, including the use (or not) of caffeine, timing and even positions. I recommend looking up the Shettles method, it worked for me!

My friends and I talk about this all the time. It seems like, espeically because of the methods we have all used and judging by the sex of our children, it seems to be true; if you want a girl start having sex every day right after your period stops and don't stop until your sure you are done ovulating. I am having a girl (due in less than 3 weeks) and that's what we did. One of my friends always tries that method just to ensure she will get PG and she has 2 girls, now she is trying for a boy and it is taking longer because it is trickier to time.

Try checking out "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" by Toni Weschler from your local library. Not only does the book teach you how to conceive by tracking your personal ovulation cycles, but there is a chapter on timing of intercourse vs. ovulation for gender determination. I think the success rate is higher for trying for girls rather than boys, but there's some interesting science to back it up. Otherwise, I've seen science-backed articles suggesting greater potassium in the system creates a more hospitable environment for conceiving boys, but that doesn't help in your case. Good luck!

A British study came out a few months ago that showed consuming a low-calorie diet significantly increased your chances of conceiving a girl, and eating a high-calorie diet raised the chances of having a boy. It was a pretty well-done, thorough study, and I know that it seemed to mesh with my own experience. My sister never, EVER dieted (the snot could eat whatever she wanted and never gain a pound), and she had two boys with two different fathers. I was trying to watch my weight and eat healthy when I got pregnant with my daughter, and the same went for many of my friends who had daughters--except for the one who was eating a lot because she was breastfeeding and then got pregnant with her son. Search for the study on msn.com. I read about it about 3 months ago...Good luck....

Silly as it may seem the chinese gender chart has been right with all 4 of our babies. We didn't use it to plan though. But I would if I were hoping for one or the other.Anything to boost the odds in your favor. Best wishes.

I thought if you have sex the day of ovulation you have the best chance of a boy. For a girl you would have sex upto a few days prior. I read parts of a book: How to choose the sex of your baby. I would love to hear about foods. All do tell.

my sister had 2 boys first and wanted a girl. She bought a book about how to tilt the odds of having one gender of your baby over the other. There were 6 different things she was to do and she did 5, such as eating a lot of sour oranges. The methods involve changing the acidity of the environment during conception. She did have a girl so she has sworn by it. Buy a book and find out how...

Try this Chinese gender site. We had our first baby (girl) without checking the chart. For the 2nd baby, we wanted another girl and was successful in having her...she's 15 months old now. I would only try when there are two months saying it will be a girl. That way it's more of a chance to have a girl than a boy. Good luck!
