Hi, does anyone have a story of someone getting treatment (chemo) for stage 4 lung cancer and it worked? I'm hoping to hear a positive story of chemo helping a stage 4 lung cancer patient to go on and live happily for years. I know each case is individual but a good story might help give my family some hope.

Thanks!

Not lung cancer, but my friend's brother in law, George, was diagnosed with esophageal cancer and told he had about 6 months. 8 years later, he is alive and miraculously cancer free. He was treated very aggressively and was in his early 50's when diagnosed. I would always recommend planning for the worst but hoping for the best. Someone is the 10% who makes it through (in his case it was 90% terminal at 1 year). Thinking of George gives me hope in lots of situations :)

My uncle was diagnosed with lung cancer that was deemed terminal. I do not know if it was stage four or not. Surgery was not an option. He also has emphysema and other health issues. He is still with us at age 87. He had experimental treatment at Stanford. I think even the doctors are shocked by the fact that he is still with us. God Bless you.

Many years ago I had a close friend who had multiple brain tumors as a teenager. He went into remission and then developed a large tumor very quickly. He was on his deathbed in a coma when I was called in to see him. The doctors had done a CT scan and his brain was literally shutting down preparing for death. They gave him hours to live. That night while I was in there talking to him, he all of a sudden talked back, awoke from his coma and went on to learn how to walk again. He is alive and well with a wife and children 15 years later.

Miracles happen. I hope one happens for you. Hugs!

A dear friend of mine in Boca Raton, FL has a master's degree in holistic nutrition. She works with a functional medicine MD who is treating cancer patients with a diet that's basically as much protein and fat as you can eat, plus veggies, some fruits but NO processed foods or dairy. People are apparently thriving on this. I'm sorry that I don't know exactly what it's called but I'm sure you can find information on Google about it, type in high fat low carb cancer diet and I'm thinking it will come up.

There's also something called the Budwig Protocol. Dr Budwig was (is? Not sure she is still living) some kind of chemist I think. She created a protocol using flax oil and cottage cheese. Yes, sounds nuts. However, my 75 yr old voice teacher swears it cured his prostate cancer 20 years ago. Go to budwigcenter.com.

I hope that's helpful. Neither diet can HURT YOU, so it's probably worth trying out. I hope things turn for the better. You're in my thoughts.

Absolutely. Lots of people with pretty advanced cancer (various sites) have reversed it, gone into remission, etc. I work with scores of them! Also great work being done (clinical trials very successful) using readily available nutrition to get people through the "poison program" (radiation and chemo) with increased energy and reduced nausea. Message me and we'll connect.

Somebody mentioned the Budwig Protocol. My Mom has been doing this for a while, in addition to medical treatment. She has a type of lymphoma which is hard to treat and used to have a life expectency of 1-3 years. She is now in remission!

My Mom was diagnosed with lung cancer back in 1996. I'm not sure what stage but they told her she'd be lucky to live 6mths even with treatment. She chose to fight it with chemo and radiation. And thankfully she lived another 8 happy/healthy years.

Hello I jumped at this question as my own mother has just been diagnosed with lung cancer. We do not know what stage yet or course of treatment. They have diagnosed her through a pet scan and now she is going in for the biopsy next week. I am not sure where you are. We are luckily in boston and my mom is seeing a wonderful team at dana farber. I too like you was desperate for answers hope anything. I am only 36 and my mother is my best friend. The good thing is they do not think it has spread. And they plan to remove her mass in her right upper lobe lung. She has quit smoking thank god and is walking 1 hr a day per drs orders. They did tell her she is very lucky they caught it early. She had gotten pnemonia. That is how they found it. After I ofcourse like you asked everyone I could what they knew. Its amazing what they can do today to treat lung cancer. Stay positive. I know easier said than done. I had an absolute breakdown and had to call my dr to get something to calm down. I am with you here. I know exactly how you are feeling and you need to chat mess me. Their is hope. I have only heard success stories. Its truelly amazing. But again its not easy so if you ever need someone to talk to cry to anything at all I am here. I know when I first found out right before x mass having people to just listen helped me. God bless
