Spring Break - Mansfield,TX

Spring Break starts today at 2:45! I'm so excited! There is snow on the ground so it doesn't feel at all like it should be spring break, but I'm thrilled none the less. I don't even have any special plans. Also, I love my classes this year (high school AP English), so it's not like I need to get away from them or anything. Still . . . it's freedom! Every year at this time, and again at the end of the year I feel like a kid again. Woohoo!

We're going to take our oldest on a college visit. My husband and I are going to have a date night, spend the night at a nice hotel, and spend the day/night on the town together, but other than that we don't have any big plans.

Do you have any exciting plans for spring break this year?

What can I do next?

spring break is when i go BACK to work. my CC enrichment class starts next week!
i have a love/hate relationship with this time of year. i'm a summer child, and can't wait for the rich, drenching, bone-melting glory of summer days to get here. i love throwing on a sarong and flip flops to do the barn, and afternoons puttering in the gardens, and nights floating in the pool with the fireflies.
spring here is wet and insanely muddy. but i still love the touches of warmth, especially after the terrible cold we've had.
but i also have learned in recent years to love the silence and introspection of winter, and sometimes spring feels a little like an alarm clock. it's time to get busy, to get my classes really researched and ready to rock, to get the garden beds woken up and ready for planting, to work the winter coats off the mares and get their filthy winter blankets cleaned. i generally enjoy the bustle, and after a quiet winter i'm mostly ready.
but part of me is snuggling into my winter blankets going 'not yet! just 5 more minutes!'

I hope you have a great break and our weather is nice for you... No More Snow please!!!! We are finally thawing out in my neighborhood and it is SO nice to see this sunshine!

My daughter's college Spring Break starts Friday the 13th. We are flying to Miami for some much needed time in the sun and then driving up to Orlando for the National Plastics Expo which is a HUGE super interesting Plastics Expo for a couple of days then flying home.

Hubby is meeting us in Miami for the weekend just before we drive to Orlando and then he will stay in Orlando for the rest of the show. Daughter and I are only doing 2 days of show.

Daughter will miss 2 days of school due to the show but she gets paid because she will be there as an owner of our company. She is majoring in marketing/entrepreneurship so it is imperative that she attends part of the show so she can meet people in the industry that we have relationships with so if she ever intends to take over our company in the future she already has some established relationships. Plus, her marketing and entrepreneurship professors have begged for all the new ideas and free samples we get so we will make sure they are covered!!

I am finally feeling better from pneumonia, today is first day I have been completely out of bed and ran errands for the first time in a week. I have my work cut out for me next week in preparation of our trip and getting the pet/hose sitter things ready, etc. I LOVE my house sitter so I make sure the guest bedroom and bath is set up like a spa and I have all of her favorite K-cups ready for her! She said house sitting here is like being away at a hotel plus she has my 2 fur babies keeping her company!

I am counting the days!

Yes! I'm meeting my college age son in LA (I'm coming from Northern Cal, he's coming from Flagstaff.) We're going to spend four days together, hitting the beach, Hollywood, hiking the LA canyon trails AND we are going to Disneyland, yay!!! It's been four years since we did a trip just the two of us, I'm beyond excited :-)

My son is coming home TOMORROW from college. AND he is bringing his girlfriend. Very excited. She seems very nice. He wants me to take a day off from work and spend it with her so I am. =)

Other than that, same thing next day. Work work work. My "springbreak" is in April. Hubby and I are taking a few days off work and going to Los Angeles for our birthday. Yay! Never been. Went to Rome last year, this year can't do a big trip so... LA here we come.

Enjoy you time off and thanks for being a teacher!!!

It's the annual staycation for me-- Kiddo and my husband are flying off to visit the in laws and darn! someone has to stay home to take care of the cats ( if I did go, it would end up costing a lot more because their house is small and we'd have to do a hotel plus the airfare, plus cat care, etc....).

So, I'm going to enjoy some peace and quiet for a week; Kiddo will be back for the last few days and we'll do some fun things around town-- nickel arcade, parks, etc. I'm sure that he'll likely want to hang out at home for a few days before school starts again. So-- it's a nice time to take it easy.

Hard to believe it's spring break time already! I know all of you hit by the hard winter weather are glad that spring is just around the corner. Hopefully, the weather will cooperate so everyone can finally enjoy some outdoor activities!

Our spring break is still a few weeks away, and I thought we would just hang out here and enjoy some downtime from what has been an incredibly busy start to this year. My husband travels all the time, so I thought spring break would be a good time to do some projects around here, clean out the garage, and get ready for the next round of house renovations.

Not so fast. Guess he must have been reading my mind and decided to make other plans as he just told me that we've got a reservation at the St. Regis, Monarch Beach in Dana Point, CA, my favorite resort on the continental US.

We'll be going with dear friends and then meeting up with other friends in the area, so it will be really nice. I'm sure we'll head to Legoland; our youngest loves it there, and maybe we'll go to some of the other parks and definitely visit our favorite eateries and delis.

Now, I'm in full force, trying to get going and work ahead of schedule on house stuff so I can relax and enjoy the break.

Hope you have a great time and enjoy your break from school, your date night with your husband, and have a successful college visit with your child!

I'm happy my spring breaks are lining up this year, they don't always (I work in one district, my kids are in another). And last year we didn't do anything because I had a newborn. So I am really looking forward to our getaway to "the desert" (well, Palm Desert). I am going to sit by the pool with a beverage and relax. While watching my little swimmers like a hawk. And keeping a 1 year old happy and safe in a crowded area with a gigantic drowning hazard as the centerpiece.

Enjoy your break! You've earned it! Teachers work hard and being with teenagers all the time is surprisingly wearing.

So jealous! My daughter is on spring break from college as of yesterday and she's staying with her boyfriend's family. the boy friend is a doll - we really like him an his family seems nice based on one phone convrastion I had with the mom.

But as for me and the rest of my family, we will be going to work and coming home and just doing the usual, my son still has regular high school classes. But we still have 2 feet of snow on the ground so Spring break would be strange right now anyway!

Ours starts at 4:05 (I teach high school). I am SO BEYOND READY for the break. No snow here, but much colder temps than we are used to, but it is supposed to be in the 60's most of next week. We have plans to do some fun stuff with the kids, including them going on two sleepovers, so we will get two date nights (YAY!), and LOTS of purging and spring cleaning around the house. Spring cleaning can make me oddly giddy, so I am SO excited to clean and purge!

I hope you enjoy your break!

Ah yay! Love spring break!!

We did have plans to spend the week in Boston, but then my husband was laid off in early October and hasn't been working since then. That vacation is obviously cancelled.

We are about 3 hours from Busch Gardens and had summer passes last year, my 7 year old (8 this week) wants to go for one day of spring break, so we just might do that. But we'll see! If not, I will take a day or two off and the kids and I will go tour DC, I'm sure there are places there we have yet to explore. Husband got a job offer, just waiting on the start date. But he won't have the leave to join us just yet.

I have one home from college but it's been cold with below zero nights, so haven't really done much. My other one is also on break from college, but is lucky enough to be going to Myrtle Beach with guys from his team, so I am sitting around being jealous of him. I get to see all his posts on facebook of the fun stuff he's doing and listen to him brag about 72 degree days.

My son is 12 and ADHD so he has to keep busy every second so we pay for him to go to boys club. That leaves my 15 yo daughter and myself home. I think we are going to go to a couple fun painting classes, visit my mom on her days off and I think pick up some river rocks and get some paints and paint at home. I have been struck with the downsizing bug so I think we are going to get her room done since I just did my sons. My husband will be working but sometimes will take a day off and we will all do something. Oh, and maybe a couple movies at the dollar theater also. Have fun!
