This show is coming to BU's arena in late April and wanted to get feedback on what the show is like. How old were the children who attended? Is it a long period of sitting or is getting up and moving encouraged? Your thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks!

L.,
I went to see a Sesame Street Live show back in October. I went with my niece who was 4 her friends that are also 3 or 4, plus my son who was 9 months and they all loved it. Evan my son was watching. He even fell asleep in the second half with all the noise. I would defiantly go.

Son, DH and I have attended twice now. First time son was 15 months and sat through the first half with LOTS of bribes of snacks and then we had to leave at intermission. I think that was because once Big Bird came on and said "you can get up" that was it for him:)
Second time was last month. (28 months) He still had a generous supply of snacks but that was more because we had to drive 30 min before we got to the show and it started at 1pm so the "snacks" were sort of lunch too. He LOVED the show and was sad when we had to get up and leave when it was finally over.
My son started watching Seasame when he started his tv viewing at 10 months. He ONLY watched Sesame once a day until he turned 2 and now we are a little more liberal with the shows, so I think he was SO into the show it worked in our favor on the attention span.
If I had it to do again with the knowledge I have now I would probably have waited until even a few months from now for him to go see his first show. The second one went loads better BUT he just dropped his nap offically two weeks ago so he WAS kinda cranky near the end of the thing last month.
Hope that helps!

We saw Elmo's Coloring Book in Providence a couple years ago -- a week before my son turned two. It was amazing. It is definitely an interactive experience. I don't think he sat down once. The kids are encouraged to sing along and everyone has a good time. It is truly a fabulous experience for young kids. This year we saw Diego live instead (similar experience) and brought my 8 year old nephew. Even though he is "too old" and "too cool" for Diego he was still jumjping and singing and having an incredible time. It really does appeal to older and younger -- even us adults were singing along. As someone who loves going to plays and musicals, I have to say Sesame Street Live is one of the best put together shows I have seen. They really know how to capture the young audience while still making it enjoyable for the adults.

Hi L.

I just went to see this show in February and brought my 22 month old girl who LOVES Elmo. She had a fantastic time. The show lasts about 45 minutes then they have a 15 minute intermission then about another 45 minutes. Many parents were walking around with their children and some were even dancing in the aisles. However, we saw the show at a small arena in North Kingston, RI, so I'm not sure what they will allow at BU but I'm sure with it being a kid's show, they will be flexible. If you do go, I hope you enjoy it.

We have tickets too for the April show at BU. My daughter is 2 1/2 and my son is 5. I brought him to the same show at BU several years ago..before he was 3. He enjoyed it. Yes the Agganis Arena at BU lets the kids roam around the floor and the show encourages dancing in the aisle!

My son won tickets a couple of years ago at the Whittemore Center and it was wonderful. We were very leary because he doesn't like crowds and loud noises - but it worked out great. He was 3 at the time. Kids were allowed and encouraged to be out of their seats plenty of space allowed for that - so it was great. Very entertaining and interactive.

Last year my daughter who was 2.4 years at the time attended Sesame Street Live: Elmo's Coloring Book at the BU Arena last April. One of her friends, her age, also joined us and both did very well. We are going to this year's show at the end of April in the BU Arena with the same friend and 1 other friend. My son who was 4.7 years old last year also attended last year and will be attending the April show also. He also enjoyed it. I am not sure how old your kids are but not to worry b/c there are a lot of young kids there and ALL adults attending the show understand if a child talks or cries. If you are going-ENJOY!

We saw Elmo's Coloring Book last Spring when my daughter was about 18 months old and she loved it! Everyone else has answered the actual questions you asked, so here's a couple of things I would have liked to have known before we went. Yes, we were allowed to bring in our diaper bag with no problem despite the restrictions listed on the website. We were there during snack/lunch time and at intermission got our daughter some chicken fingers at the concession stand -- they are really, really good at the arena! Finally, we were feeling really indulgent and got her a big stuffed Elmo for some outrageous amount of money. It was in a plastic bag until we got into the car so we didn't get to feel how scratchy it was, but we gave it to our daughter anyway to avoid a meltdown. By the time we got home she was completely covered with red fibers! I vaccuumed the doll but it didn't help. So I sent an email to the company listed on the ticket (Vee something, if I'm remembering right) and they could not have been nicer about getting us a full refund. There's my 2 cents -- have fun at the show!

Hi...I took my now 18 month old daughter to see this last month at the Lowell Memorial Auditorium. Our seats were not close to the stage but she had a blast. There was no problem with the kids dancing in the aisles. She paid attention for almost the whole show so the antics on stage kept her attention. This was the 2nd Sesame Street show I've taken her to and I would recommend it! Have fun!

my son, 4 and niece, 3, and my sister and I went. We all had a good time and I was impressed with the show! I thought I would be bored, but it was a lot of fun! I was nervous about my son's attention span...but I had no problems! Definately go!

We went to the Hartford show last fall - our (then) 2 year, 3 month old loved it!!! We were asked to stay seated during the show - particiaption is encouraged from your seat. We had one intermission. There is plenty of "stuff" to buy - and we did purchase a few items but BY FAR, our best purchase was the program book. It's a large book with photographs and retell of the show - about $10. Our daughter loves it!!!! We have reread it over and over. (It is now held together with clear packing tape!) We received an email letting us know that the show is back in our area and thought about going again but decided to pass "for now" due to the cost. (A bit pricey once you add up the tickets for our whole family.) But we'll look for it again, maybe in the fall. Our daughter can't wait to "shake Elmo's hand"! Have fun and don't forget to sing along!!!
