My son receives speech therapy through CPSE. However, he only receives services during the school year. His preschool teacher recommended that I try to have him continue getting speech through out the summer. I was hoping to find someone for the summer who would provide speech services at a nominal fee, such as a student/Intern. Any moms out there have recommendations where I could begin my search?

My daughter is currently receiving speech therapy through the Rose Kennedy Center located in the Bronx. THere is also the early childhood center located in the Morris park section of the Bronx. I am not sure of the cost my daughter's therapy is covered by my insurance. They seem very willing to work with families. Good Luck
Hi W. - a good friend of mine just finished her masters in speech therapy and I asked her about your request. I'm not sure how old the child is but she did say that if they are under 3 then you can get free speech therapy that is paid for by the government (your pediatrician should have that info). She's not able to take any students on at this time but if you'd like to get some information on things you can be doing at home she will be more than happy to help you. Let me know and I will pass along the info.
Why don't you talk to her speech theropist now. Maybe she will want the job.

If you're in Manhattan, NYU, Hunter and Columbia all have clinics where their speech pathology students do their clinic hours... I will look at work for their numbers.
