Seeking New Church Family in the Cedar Hill Area

After years of not attending church, I am seeking a new church family for my husband and children to become a part of. I was raised Southern Baptist and my husband was raised Assembly of God. Needless to say we claim Non-denom at this point in time. Does anyone have a good suggestion of a church located in Cedar Hill that is very family oriented (has church-related activities for all ages). Thank you!

We use to go to Trinity Church in Cedar Hill just because of the childrens activities. I am Southern Baptist too. Now we go to First Baptist Church in Midlothian because we feel more comfortable in a no pressure religion.

I'm sure you have found a church by now--but I am new to this website. Trinity Church in Cedar Hill is an awesome church. It is Assembly of God--yet you really wouldn't know that walking in. They are very big in drama and illustrated sermons. For kids, the kids program is amazing. And "girlfriends"--if you haven't been to one--you HAVE to go. About 1100 women from all different churches, backgrounds, having a blast!! Next one is March 7th at Wax. Civic Center. Hope you found a church, and even if you have, check out Girlfriends--you can go to the website and click on womens ministries. We have 3 different churches bringing buses of women from their churches. Website--trinityministries.org (may be .com). God Bless!

R.,

Congratulations on the decision to seek a church family!! I kind of know where you are coming from; I was raised Southern Baptist and my husband was raised in a "Megachurch." We attend Fellowship of Joy in Grand Prairie; our Pastor is Scott Camp. Here's where it gets interesting...he has a background as a Southern Baptist pastor but our church began as nondenominational and now for support purposes we fall under the Assemblies of God denomination. It's a crazy combination but it works very well for us. Our services have more of a contemporary feel (i.e. band and more modern music though we do still sing some of the older hymns) and Pastor Scott preaches from the Bible. If you would like to check it out the website is: fellowshipofjoy.com.
Our services on Sunday morning begin at 9:30 for bible study and 10:30 for worship.
Our children & youth ministries are great & my little guy loves going to church!
Sorry for going on & on but I just wanted to share...hope you can join us sometime and see if it is the right place for your family. Let me know if you would like more info or if you plan on visiting & I'll be happy to introduce myself & some other people. Blessings & hope you find a church family!

Hi R.,
I was browsing through the topics section and came across an old message. Have you been able to locate a church for you and your family?

Hi there,
Great church in Ovilla, just south of Cedar Hill. We moved here from Wash. state, going to a non-denomiational Calvary Chapel. ORBC is a great church- great worship, and wonderful pastor. It's great! We have 5 kids and have found it a great place to grow- for them and for us!
Bible study classes start around 9ish on Sunday mornings and the worship service is at 10:30. Ovilla Road Baptist Church is the name and you'll love it!
