Hello! I am a 31 year old mom of a 16 1/2 month old boy. I am a stay at home mom and do not have any friends that have children and that stay at home. I am looking for a play group so that my son can play with other children and so that I can have some new friends with kids to hang out and to talk with (about anything). Meeting people with kids that stay home is not easy and I do not know where to get started. Any advice or groups out there for me?

Hi C.,
I'm not too far away in South Plainfield (I have a 5 month old)... I do work part time though so I'm only home two days during the week.. There is a strollerstrides program in the area - now they are at bridgewater commons, then they will be in the area parks when the weather is nicer... I was thinking of checking out a class but haven't yet.. check out their website at strollerstrides.com

Hi C.. Go to www.momsclub.org and see which chapter will serve the area where you live. The MOMS Club is an International support group for at home moms. Good luck!

Hi C.,

My name is D., I live in Branchburg NJ. My kids are 5 & 10 Years old and well into school. I did hear something about a mom's group around here somewhere, so I am going to call a few friends and try to track it down for you. I think they have meetings and playdates, etc. etc. I should hopefully get the info by later today or in the next day or two.

Nice to meet you!

Hi C.. I am also a SAHM to my 9 month old daughter and I live in Middlesex county. I have found some groups on meetup.com. I have just been too lazy to join because it is too cold out. But now that the weather is warming up, I plan on joining. THey have one specifically for your area. Check it out! And I feel your pain about not having friends with kids...most of mine are single and the ones with kids are far away or work too much. Good luck!

hi C., i live in hillsborough and we joined Gymboree. i have met tons of other moms and kids my daughter's age (she's 20 months). it has been so much fun for both of us, not to mention so good for my daughter's physical development. there's also the mom's club like a pp mentioned, and depending on your interests, there's also a holistic mom's network (google it for more info). i also joined the local la leche league group, and it's been awesome for socialization as well as support and information (don't know if you're a nursing mom or not). hope that helps!

Hi there! I, too, am a stay at home mom of a 22 month old daughter. I just joined a Meetup moms organization that offer many options to get out and meet new friends. There are a variety of topics of interest, discussion boards & social activities for stay at home moms. There is a "Bridgewater Super Mommies" in your area/local to you. Visit Meetup.com. I think it may help. Some require a small yearly membership due, some are free. I joined one group and met really nice ladies (and age appropriate kids for my daughter to play with). You are able to preview before you "join."

I am shy and love being home. Venturing out a bit is a good thing. I wish I had done this sooner. We do other activities such as Gymboree, story time @ the local library, and swimming lessons at our local YMCA. All the best, hope some of this helps.
