Hi A. -

My kids aren't quite the same age as yours, but I wanted to share a website with you that has been quite helpful to me: matchingmoms.org

It has listings of different moms and you can search by age of children, distance from you, etc. They also have listings of playgroups.

I think they may be having network problems at present, but they're working on them, so I would check back in a day or two. Good luck!

Hello A.. I would suggest trying to find a MOMS Club group in your area. If you go to www.MOMSClub.org you can see a little bit about the club. If there isn't one in your area, contact the one closest to you and ask to join. If you plead a couple of times, they will let you in usually. I am the MOMS Club Membership Vice President for the Pittsburgh-East chapter, and it includes the following areas:

- Regent Square
- Point Breeze
- Squirrel Hill
- Swissvale
- Edgewood
- Wilkensburg
- Shadyside
- Oakland
- Bellefield
- Homewood
- Greenfield
- Park Place
- East Hills
- Swisshelm Park
- South Side

Our dues are very reasonable compared to MOPS and we do all of our activities during the day when our husbands/spouses work.

Good luck.

The Carnegie Libraries offer FREE storytime and often have easy puzzles, train tables, etcetera
another idea is Barnes and Noble for coffee and reading while your baby plays w/ the train table there
I've also heard about Borders storytime but don't know if there's a cost
also check mommy mags for special events - i.e.:Storybook walk
sorry for the typing - nursing our sick baby
not sure what you're thinking as inexpensive - Music Together is wonderful for $145 for 10 weeks - our 3 y.o. has been in since 8 m.o. an our youngest (9m.o.) is starting this week (if well) - it's amazing what our oldest learned - loves music, learned structure - said to be great for math and reasoning

some nearby communities may offer cheap classes - I just found this 2 communityies from us - i.e.: mommy and me dance or regular dance at about $60 for 12 weeks - I'd call neighborhood community centers or their equivalents
hope this helps - good luck!

Hi...The Shaler Library has a great Mommy and Me play group for infants...it is called Book Babies. I took my two year old there when he was an infant and he loved it! If you go to the Shaler Township website they have a link to the library. Also Kiwanis pool in Shaler has summer programs to take swimming lessons with your infant...I met some other Moms through that as well! Good luck!

Hi A.

I have been taking my little ones to a Mommy & Me yoga class for about 2.5 years. We started when my oldest was about 6 months. I also have a 19 month old that attends with us now too (started back when he was about 6 weeks). The class is in Lawerenceville, but they are moving locations beginning Oct. You can find info about the class on their website if you are interested.... www.schoolhouseyoga.com It's a nice group of moms that enjoy doing a little exercise while their kids snack and play. We chat about random things that come up before and after class. There is a range of ages of the kids....from newborn to about 3 usually.
