Does anyone have any suggestions about affordable health care that a single parent can afford. I dont qualify for anY state programs. Please help. I asked company to reduce salary but there suggestion was to go on hourly. I work a lot of hours if i go to hourly hours would be cut to get rid of ot....lots less money

Oh my goodness that is horrible. What is this world coming too. The only thing I can think of is healthy families, I don't see why a single mother wouldn't qualify just look it up on the web, it'll give you a phone # or directory of offices in you area. I wish you all the best.

I would strongly suggest you go to your employer, explain the situation...and have them "decrease" your annual salary by the 24 cents!!!..

I'm sure that would not be a problem.

Good Luck!

Hello Y.. I do not know much about Kaiser low cost health plans, but I do know about Healthy Families. I do not know if this is something you have looked into or not, but a few years ago I did not qualify because of my income. I applied again at the beginning of this year (because the insurance offered by my employer was costing me over $500.00 for both of my kids), just on the off chance that they would accept my kids, and they did. They have raised their salary maximums. I barely fit into the bracket for my income level, but I did, and am so glad. The only hard part was that I had to take both of my kids off of their current insurance, because even though my employer didn't pay for it, it was offered through my employer, and Healthy Families will not take anyone that has had employer related insurance for the previous 90 days. So, I took a chance, crossed my fingers and prayed real hard that nothing would happen to my kids in 90 days, and they were eligible April 1st! If this is something that you are interested in and qualify for, my only piece of advice is to choose the doctors and dentists carefully. They have some great ones, but at the same time, you could end up going to a not so desirable place. I pay $30.00 a month for both of my children.

why don't you increase how many dependents you have, that sucks making 24 cents over the price to qualify I would appeal this, fight for this, there has to be something you can do about this. Maybe doante one dollar a month to a charity, something you should be able to do to lower your pay a tad, I think you should look into your rights on this one.

Have you asked your employer for a 24 cent a year wage reduction?
