Hello--

I'm looking for an honest, trustworthy and not outrageously-priced handy man to do some odd jobs around my house that my husband never seems to have time or interest in doing. Any recommendations? thanks~!

Scott Betts. I met him through his daughter, actually, who belongs to some of the same playgroups as we do. He's very trustworthy, reliable, and reasonable. We had him finish our basement in our previous house, and he's done odds and ends like put up baby gates, build a railing for some stairs, install a new front door and storm door, fix our garbage disposal, put up light fixtures, paint, do some wood trim work, etc etc. He really loves what he does too and doesn't charge you an arm and a leg if he has to run back out to Home Depot to pick something up for you.

I know he does a lot of kitchen jobs- tile and woodwork especially. His card says, "Electrical, Carpentry, Tile, Plumbing, Woodworking, Kitchens, Bathrooms, Fine Woodworking"

He's just a nice easygoing guy too, so if you change your mind about a detail midway through a problem, he'll just joke with you and change things to whatever you decide.

(PS- I get no kickbacks for recommending him either :)

We've used Peter. ###-###-####) He lives in Roselle and has been over to our house to do 2 projects. The first one was to finish drywlling our garage. He did a great job. He ran over to Menards bought all the supplies ahead of time. He worked hard all day and cleaned up afterwards too! We paid him the agreeed upon price and cost of materials (he provided the Menards receipt). This year we had he come out to fix our gutters and he did a great job again.

E., I live in Bartlett too! And I have a guy who might be able to help you. He has done some electrical work at my house and daughter's condo recently. He is a customer at Bannerman's, where I work, and I've known him for awhile now. Very trustworthy, nice man and reasonably priced. (He does odd jobs because he used to work in construction with a family member and I think the economy sunk most of that.) I can see if he minds if I give out his name and I can get back to you with it. I'll talk to him tomorrow and then get back to you.
