Seeking Dental Referral

Our dental insurance is changing to Met Life. Our pediatric dentist is not a participating provider. We can still go to her, but as you all may know, I will have to pay the difference out of pocket. My husband and I don't want to do this if there are other options. The out of pocket expense can be a lot. Does anyone have this insurance and/or does anyone know of a pediatric dentist that accepts this insurance in the Hermosa Beach, Redondo Beach, Torrance areas? Starting with referrals is always the best way. Any information is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I highly recommend Mary Lynn Lukasik Mosig DDS. She is a fabulous dentist and is great with kids of all ages. She practices with her husband Mike Mosig DDS who is very good too. I know they accept MetLife. They are located at:

1815 Via El Prado, #400
Redondo Beach, CA 90277

Have you spoken with your dentist to see if she would accept just the fee that a non-participating provider would get plus the amount that was your co-pay? It's worth a shot, especially if your kids are comfortable with her. Some providers would rather do this than lose patients. Good luck!

We see Dr. David Taylor - he's in the Promenade at the Peninsula (Rolling Hills)...but SO worth the drive! He is AMAZING and the kids LOVE, LOVE, LOVE going to the dentist! Hopefully he will take your insurance! But call in advance - he is a busy guy because he is SO good!

Good luck!

Hi,

We see Dr. Ruth Becker (located in Torrance). She's great with kids! Not sure what insurance she accepts...

Good luck!

Hi! We love Dr. David Taylor, in Rolling Hills Estates. He accepts Met-life but we have to pay a slightly higher fee as it is out-of-network. It isn't very much, and it is worth it!

We are switching to Met Life on Jan 1 and we are switching dentists to All Smiles Dentistry on Hawthorne, near 186th street in Torrance. I haven't been seen by any dentists there, but the office staff is really nice. I took in all the forms that my husband's work gave me and the list of "required" work I had from the other dentist we had seen and one of the office people spent 45 minutes one on one with me telling me the differences between the available plans I had and helping me choose the best one for my family.

So, if the office staff is any kind of reflection of the dentists and orthodontists that work there, it is going to be a great place!

Huggles!

Unless your children have serious issues, a pediatric dentist isn't necessary. A regular family dentist will be fine. If you're interested, I would recommend a dentist in Woodland Hills. She took great care of my daughter when she was 2 and knocked a tooth out and has taken great care of me in the past as well.
