Hi everyone! I am 38 and have decided to try to get pregnant for the first time. I would like some feedback on great OB/GYNs in the Denton area. I am looking for a practice, preferably a female doctor, that is experienced in later-age first-time pregnancies. I would like a caring doctor that is open to a variety of approaches and has a lot of experience. I am going to get referrals from my GP as well, but would love to hear any info about local docs from you. Thank you for your help!

I loved Dr. Walsh. I have been to caring for Women and saw Dr. Reeves but comparing the 2 practices Dr. Walsh wins hands down. The other important thing is where to deliver having had a baby at Presby and one at Regional Presby wins hands down.

From my own personal experience, Dr. Cummings and Dr, Dooley are both fantastic. Dr. Cummings has been my OB for my 2nd, 3rd, and 4th pregnancies--2nd and 3rd were VBACs and I'm hoping the same for my 4th in April. Dr. Cummings is very knowledgeable and very caring and AMAZING!! He believes birth is a natural process and is very supportive in many different aspects concerning that. My husband and I both love him! Dr. Dooley actually delivered my 3rd baby, as Dr. Cummings wasn't on call and unavailable, but She was very amazing also! So encouraging!! She was a great substitute when Dr. Cummings couldn't be there!!!

I've been using Dr. Popov at Caring For Women near DRMC. I have been going to her for the past 5 years. I'm currently pregnant with my second child. I think she's very personable and thorough. There are a few other Dr's in the same office but I have not seen any of them.

Good luck!!!

I love love love my OB/GYN, Dr. Christina Dooley. She has helped with my 4th and 5th children, and many women I know. I personally know several women that have had babies a little later in life, and they all seemed happy with her. She is close to Denton Presby, so that is where she delivers. If you need more information, feel free to ask! Good luck ~A.~

L.,
I live just north of Denton but the OB/GYN I use is actually in Decatur. Her name is Renee Smith and I love her! My husband and I had a hard time getting pregnant and she really worked with us. Now we have a BEAUTIFUL 14 month old little girl. I started with Dr. Cummings in Denton and they just blew me off and would not help me. Dr. Smith listened to me and did everything she could to help me get pregnant (outside of what a fertility specialist does). I know she is not in Denton but it was worth the drive for me. We also had a great experience at Wise Regional which is the hospital there. Good luck with everything and God bless!

Dr. Cummings. I believe that he is the most open minded, very educated, and sincere Ob/Gyn around. His mother and Grandmother were both midwives and he takes that approach with his patients. He was the ONLY doctor in the North Texas and surrounding areas that would even talk to me about VBAC with my second and third child.

I would recommend Caring for Women. (www.cfwdenton.com) I've been going to this facility since 2006. The only Dr. I have seen is Dr. Laura Finger and she has been very friendly and caring about all of my concerns. She delivered my daughter in late 2006 and I plan for her to deliver my little boy this December.
BTW...I was 36 with my daughter and I'm 39 now :o)

I came to mamasource for the same thing. Everyone seemed to say Dr. Dooley, so that's where I went. I am so thrilled that I listened, because she's as awesome as everyone says. I liked her from the first second I met her. I don't think you'll be disappointed! Good luck

Dr. Christina Dooley is absolutely fabulous!! Her office number is ###-###-####. She is very thorough, loving, kind and has amazing compassion. She is very deciated to her job and is well-studied. She delivered my son who is 1. My pregnancy was considered high risk. I saw a perinatologist 2 times. For the last 8 weeks or so I came in weekly for non stress test, sono and she spend a lot of time with me and giving my comfort. She even told me I could come up anytime and get hooked up the to fetal monitor if I was worried. Just something to think about between the 2 hospitals in Denton. Denton Presbyterian has a NICU - can take after 28 weeks and Denton Regional does not. My friend who is a L/D nurse at Denton Presby and a friend who is a nursery nurse both recommended her to me. Also, the other 3 doctors who back up for her are also great - Dr. Cummings, Dr. Walsh, and Dr. Cortez.
